Missouri. As in their defense is solid to good, but not on the same caliber as Auburn. Offensively, worse than Mizzou.

Night game on the road vs a ranked opponent. I know LSU fell appart after our game, but going in feels similar. Nuss was a good QB with a lot of preseason hype. Rivalry component.

while auburn statistically seems the closest i would agree with LSU based on a style component and overall talent level. texas has holes much the same way LSU did if we can expose them we can win convincingly.

Sip gave up 128 and 188 on the ground against Georgia and Arky; 357 and 512 total yards respectively.
We are the number 3 rushing offense in the SEC, behind Arky and ahead of GA. Texas is almost dead last.
Sip has been trending in the wrong direction the last 4 games on defense, averaging about 5.99 yards per play.

Texas offense is better than Mizzou's was that day with a freshman Zollers making his first career start against A&M. Zollers clearly wasn't ready and Mizzou had no passing game whatsoever and were completely one dimensional.
I think @LSU is the closest comparison, night game versus an opponent with a lot of future NFL talent, though I think this game @Texas is harder than @LSU was because the foundation of LSU at that time was rotten with termites just waiting to collapse and get the coach fired. And collapse it did. I don't think the horn foundation with Sark is rotten like that. They are not a great team this season but they are not a bad team either.
IMO, this will be the second toughest challenge the Aggies will face in the regular season to get the win, second only to that night game @Notre Dame.
LSU is the right answer imo. Good defenses altho tu's is better . Both have OL issues related to lack of experience altho it seems to me tu's developed better over the season. Both teams grossly overrated going into the season.
Would love to see Reed expose tu defense, such as #7 of LSU.

The team that couldn't protect their QB, made them 1 dimensional, and then shut down any run game?
Or a team that got better at protecting Manning, giving him all day to throw.
IMHO their offense hasn't been tested by a defense like ours except maybe by Ohio State and Georgia. Fla defense has some quality athletes on it and their pass rush caused chaos to their run game.
I doubt the offensive success they had against PIG will be at their disposal on Friday.

The real question is what team do we field the 1st half…LSU/USCe 1st half Ags or Auburn/Mizzu 1st half Ags.
I'd say LSU last year. Good offense, decent defense… a few players on the line of scrimmage away from being a playoff team

I think this Texas team most resembles LSU because we are playing a night road game against a ranked opponent. Texas did not score more than 23 points in any of their first 4 games against Power 4 opponents, but they have scored 34+ points in regulation in 3 of their last 4 games: 38 (31 offensive and 7 from a punt return) against Mississippi State, 34 against Vanderbilt, and 52 (45 offensive and 7 from a fumble return) against Arkansas. In contrast, Texas' defense did not allow more than 29 points in their first 7 games, but they have allowed 31+ points in regulation in each of their last 4 games: 38 to Mississippi State, 31 to Vanderbilt, 35 to Georgia, and 37 to Arkansas.

Other than Arkansas, what game did they solidly protect Manning?
The real answer nobody wants to say is Notre Dame. Flawed but decently physical, good talent and well coached.
Glad I'm confident Elko is taking texas more seriously than most of the Zoo is.

Their run game doesn't remotely resemble Notre Dame's. 205 ypg vs 123 ypg . LSU run game is even worse at 108 ypg
