did he say crowd noise or just noise? A&M games are effing loud outside of the crowd. The music is often deafening.

Somehow Kyle fan noise was louder before the renovation though... explain that to me.

All that said, this is On3 clickbait.

You know, since the reno, I thought it was just my imagination. But yea, I honestly think it was louder before. Wonder if anyone has been actually taking decibel readings. Would be interesting to see actual readings.

So, Saban as an old believes that the DJ's music is noise. Many would agree with him but it's the way the pre-snap decibels are raised in this and most other stadiums nowadays.

noise that doesn't come directly from fan voices or marching band instruments is lame.

I too believe the old Kyle Field was louder.
I haven't seen any studies done on decibel readings since the renovation.
But I have sat in several different areas of the new Kyle Field and in every section it no longer seems as loud as it used to.
Yet you may remember that we were told that the renovations were architecturally done specifically to increase crowd noise.
Maybe it's just me..but the older bare concrete steep-walled Kyle Field before renovation seemed more intimidating.

I wonder if its louder on the field where it matters. I'd be interested to see if they have before and after decibal readings.

My guess is it has more to do with perception and how loud it feels in the stands vs the field because I'd be shocked if an 82k stadium with an open end was louder than a stadium with 105k and fully closed.

The old angle of seating elevation put more yelling heads in line with your ear holes. In my humble opinion.

If so, surely there's very direct and public evidence of crowd noise being pumped in.

I'd like to see it.

"I swear the yelling was coming from the speakers and not the 108,000+ people" The tu tards in that thread talking about Kyle being overrated eat crayons.

Those aren't pipes, those are vocal chords Nick.

Good to see his ears are still ringing.

The key is for the crowd noise to drown out the piped in noise, if it even exists.

I would agree that new Kyle has some sort of noise dampening effect. Even seems like the band isn't as loud at halftime.

I chalked it up to my age and my ever increasing hearing loss.

Agreed, so I always dismiss it to perception. But I would love to find out if they've been taking decibel readings. I am an "ol Ag" that actually likes (now) how they've balanced the DJ with crowd noise, yells, Band, etc. When the DJ first started, they were out of sync. But now I like the mix. So I have tried to mentally imagine if it's just the switching back and forth between DJ and crowd noise or if the new structure really does dissipate or deflect sound differently than the old.

For one thing, you've got 30,000 more people with clothes packed together to absorb a lot of sound. And the overall design is not good for much of anything. Should've started from scratch…

This is just On3 clickbait because the noise was louder before the renovation.

It was definitely louder before smart phones and when the stadium capped at about 88,000 people.

Sure Nick... I guess we're able to make stadium artificially shake too.

You want to talk about piping in noise, look no further than Miami. Anyone remember our game there in 2023? Stadium was half full and we couldn't hear anything.
King of the Dairy Queen

the music interrupts the yelling. After every play the DJ hits us with funkie cold medina (or whatever filth the kids are listening to these days) at 11 volume until the last possible second before the next play. The band/yells are drowned out generally, so people don't yell as much. Everyone tries to jump back in before the ball is snapped, but the music breaks the flow.

I think old kyle field was louder from the fan perspective, but its unfathomable loud now with the bells and whistles and music. Gives me a headache. Oh mylanta.

I agree here, once was in the restroom with "sudden intestinal distress" when the 3rd quarter ended. Being disconnected from what is going on with the War Hymn and feeling the stadium suddenly start to sway while sitting on the throne was a bizarre experience.

We have coaches and players saying Kyle field isn't very loud and other folks saying it's so loud we have to be faking the noise.

I keep telling my kid this. I swear it seemed louder even when it was smaller and not closed in on both ends. I feel like it has to do with the DJ, but that's just my speculation.
