I too believe the old Kyle Field was louder.
I haven't seen any studies done on decibel readings since the renovation.
But I have sat in several different areas of the new Kyle Field and in every section it no longer seems as loud as it used to.
Yet you may remember that we were told that the renovations were architecturally done specifically to increase crowd noise.
Maybe it's just me..but the older bare concrete steep-walled Kyle Field before renovation seemed more intimidating.
My guess is it has more to do with perception and how loud it feels in the stands vs the field because I'd be shocked if an 82k stadium with an open end was louder than a stadium with 105k and fully closed.
Agreed, so I always dismiss it to perception. But I would love to find out if they've been taking decibel readings. I am an "ol Ag" that actually likes (now) how they've balanced the DJ with crowd noise, yells, Band, etc. When the DJ first started, they were out of sync. But now I like the mix. So I have tried to mentally imagine if it's just the switching back and forth between DJ and crowd noise or if the new structure really does dissipate or deflect sound differently than the old.
