You know the rules of the internet. No one ever loses anyone they want to the portal or coaching hires. Everyone simply sheds dead weight to clear up space. Even when it's a 5* star who didn't live up to all-SEC standards as a true freshman.

I did not see this coming, but I think Steve Sarkisian/s firing of Pete Kwiatkowski is a panic move. Texas allowed 31+ points in regulation in each of their previous 4 games against Mississippi State (38 away), Vanderbilt (31 home), Georgia (35 away), and Arkansas (37 home) before holding us to 17 points. We had scored 31+ points in our previous 6 SEC games and in 7 of our previous 8 games against Power 4 teams, but Texas defense' held us to 17 points.

Kwiatkowski was a finalist for the Broyles Award as one of the top assistant coaches in college football in 2024, and the Longhorns finished with the No. 3 scoring defense in FBS during a 13-3 season that ended in the CFP semifinals against eventual national champion Ohio State. During his five years in Austin, Kwiatkowski helped Texas achieve back-to-back CFP appearances and top-four finishes, and developed 12 NFL draft picks on defense, including first-rounders Jahdae Barron and Byron Murphy II.
