Sark is essentially saying that he's the reason their defense was good and not PK. So, he's going to fix it by hiring a guy who hasn't coached in 5 years. Thus, Sark is in fact a defensive genius and not an offensive genius like everyone originally thought.

Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian said hiring Will Muschamp will allow him to spend more time focusing on the offense. Sarkisian said he was robbing Peter to pay Paul. Without saying it, Sarkisian seemingly had to babysit Pete Kwiatkowski, but Muschamp gives him more freedom

I said on the other thread on the topic, having the experienced SEC HC Muschamp on hand allows sip to fire Sark early or mid season next year, while at the same time putting Sark on notice that he is on a short leash now.

I thought he was a little overrated, with all the announcers always gushing over him every time t.u. was on t.v. -- as if he was clearly the best defensive coach of all time. However, I certainly don't think he was doing a bad job and wouldn't mind him being considered for a DC or other role here.

I recall when he was hired ketch claiming he was the best DC in America. Meanwhile, most of us had never heard of him because he was playing in the irrelevant Pac12. We all laughed.

To ketch's credit, he's been better than I bet most people thought he would be which makes this move really odd considering the data.

Should have fired the OC/HC and kept the DC. Best unit on the team

I think this is totally ****ing weird.

This hire was all about Georgia, the one team in the SEC that Sark's current staff can't seem to figure out. Muschamp has an insider's knowledge of the Georgia program, and knows Kirby Smart well. The fact that Muschamp also brings a certain intensity and love of recruiting (both things that that the previous DC lacked) is gravy. It's a home run hire.
