I get that QBs often receive too much blame in a loss, that's true, also Marcel played terrible and cost us the game on the goal line. Terrible decision on third down throwing into an unthrowable window. Klein should have said "if you don't love the coverage, run." I actually like us to win that game in OT
Seriously, how many check down passes were behind the receiver, air-mailed, or low and away?

It just strikes me that really great coaches don't put up with inferior QB play. Steve Spurrier once benched a starter that was in the Heisman discussion because he had a bad game and he thought the backup could do just as well and maybe better.
I wouldn't expect Elko to do THAT. But seek an alternative in the Portal after seeing Reed's erratic play? Absolutely.

These players are making millions now. Cut Reed loose in a heartbeat if you can find a better replacement.

Let's see what elko does. If he keeps the status quo then we know he is looking for an early retirement. Ive seen enough of reed. He has the yips, he is a headcase now. Forcing him into a pocket passer has regressed his play hugely. I blame klein for this squarely.

None of those guys are going to a team that has a 2 year starter at QB
I am certain the backups are highly touted and fit the system get those guys reps and if Reed does nt. Get better be prepared to make the switch
If Elko is okay with being "good" he keeps Reed. If Elko truly wants to win championships, he goes to the portal.
The portal is useful but over reliance on will hurt recruiting and team cohesion. Given the wins at ND and at LSU I think Replacing MR is a bad idea
I do fear that Reed has reached his ceiling

Keeping Klein around after accepting a job makes me question how badly he wants to win.

He is a university employee. His employment is based on his performance. If we can find better, we should go for it. That goes for every position. The day you start receiving a check for your performance, you stop being a kid, and your feelings no longer matter.
Other than NIL money, which a lot of teams have, what makes you think a top rated QB wants to come play a team with a defensive minded HC and a first time OC?
I'd love for Marcel to be the guy, but he's not. I'm not even talking **** about hin because playing high level QB is so hard but in the actual pressure he's choked every time.

I think the ND game gave us some false sense that Marcel was clutch, but too many times since he's failed to come through.
Vandy QB Pavia will be on Medicare soon. Not sure a senior citizen is the future here.

This is the zoo you're dealing with. They keep saying it because they want to wallow in their sorrow and whine like spoiled grade school girls. They were negative all year and finally have their chance to claim they were right. That we should just fire everyone, burn it all down, and start anew.

Get one of these QBs, see what our OC schemes during off-season and have them compete with Reed for the starting position. Reed should not be the automatic starting QB going into 2026 & needs to prove himself vs. any QBs we get from the transfer portal.
The top teams typically don't stand pat with a QB situation like we have. If they do, they usually regret it (2024 Bama)
If we're serious about being contenders, we need to bring in another QB with a better set of tape than Marcel. Or at least be serious about an open QB competition in spring camp with our homegrown recruits.

no top QB is going to take an NIL deal here with "competing" as part of that deal.
Funny. Last week I was called a troll for pointing out Reeds deficiencies.
