Why do some posters think the last int was just a bad throw? There was literally nobody remotely open. The left side of the end zone however. He could have waltz in backwards for a TD.

It was there. McElroy ran a replay and painted a green box around the window.
Timing was off, and Reed missed about 5 FT to the left.
And at that distance, 5 FT is a big miss.

Y'all remember when Haynes King was a turnover machine? Reed can improve.

The bigger problem is the run game. The highest RB yardage in the last three p4 games:
Miami 21y Owens
Texas 48y Owens
Scar 28y Owens

The OL was bad! That needs to be the primary focus in the portal.

Like all the people saying Mond would improve...

Honestly, I am just really shocked that anyone thought Reed was anything more than average with above average legs. I could tell this was how things were going to go from early in the season.

Reed is what he is, which is good enough with a lot of tools but not elite, not great, not even good most days. It was obvious that was the case if you didn't drink the Koolaid.

I like the kid. I hope he improves. It drove me nuts that Klein went out of his way to avoid maximizing his best asset which is his wheels. He did the same last year. Reed's running won the LSU game and then Klein stopped running plays for him to run or encouraged him not to abandon the pass when there were obvious yards to be had by running.

It's puzzling because I thought Klein's QBs at KSU ran a lot.

5ft to the left and right to the defender. Game over

Sorry, I just don't but this is an OL problem. They aren't good either. But he can't complete a 3 yard pass without it being a missile or into the ground.

Yesterday's game felt like the spider man meme of looking in the mirror, even at QB, which I think is the max potential Marcel has and as Georgia smartly determined to move on from. Also, both teams would have been boat raced by OSU.

If they want to start running him 10-12 times a game like whenever we play, LSU, I could justify his 60% completion percentage. Problem is, he's a 180 lbs tooth pick that has already shown he will snap in half unlike a Vince Young type dual threat of a much sturdier build. To Marcel's credit, he finally started hitting deep balls, so those completions will probably jump a point or two with another year.

Moral of the story, he is nothing special and his stature will limit him from realizing his full potential UNLESS he becomes an elite passer. I doubt he will which is why I think we need to bring in an ACCURATE portal QB to beat him out or force him to improve.

I agree it would be nice if you could bring in an accurate portal QB so that you have options next year, but this isn't a video game. No portal QB will come here unless they are guaranteed the starting spot, and if we do bring in a portal QB, Marcel is leaving. I'm also not convinced that any of these portal QBs have definitively more potential than Marcel after another offseason of work. I'm not completely anti-portal QB here but it's not as simple as people are making it out to be.

Issue now is that everyone has the blueprint from the Texas and Miami game on how to beat us. Marcel's inaccuracy has been exposed as a major flaw in our offense. Most defenses will play to this and just let Marcel beat himself with turnovers to beat us.

If he doesn't work on his accuracy this will be a very long season.

Reed will start.

It will be extremely difficult to upgrade him at this time.

Watched the first half again. IMHO Reed did the best he could. The offensive line couldn't hold back the rush which forced hime to make quick throws on the run. It resulted in the blocked punt and FG. The blame is on Elko in the end. He usually adjusts in the second half but couldn't. If the game were played again we very likely could have won. Miami wore the defense down until they made big plays.
But I fault the dumbasses on the committee most for their ****ty ranking system. Ole miss and Oregon should have had much tougher opponents instead of the gimme games they got.

The fact that we won't at least try is part of the reason we'll never get over the hump.

To me, Reed's main issue is that he is a MUCH worse QB when under any kind of pressure. Granted, all QBs are worse under pressure, even the great Tom Brady. Reed's "worseness" though seems to hit a whole other gear when under pressure. Maybe thats fixable … maybe not.

Team had a stable of RB's and a QB that gets an A+ in running and B- in passing. Yet, instead of establishing the run via RPO to set up the easy passes to help Reed get some easy passes, they design a spread style passing attack? Makes no sense. I thought Klein was good at building an offense around the players talents, but yet he was forcing Reed to be a pocket passer. Which, he could against lesser talented teams but was exposed by better teams. With some creative coaching, this offense could have been very dangerous.

Please text this to Elko. He may not be aware….
