Losing to JMU or Tulane would have been peak Aggie. It fits the narritive too perfectly. The simulation would have allowed it and we'd be the brunt of every joke, even moreso than we already are.

The volleyball team just went through the most massive gauntlet you can imagine to win a National Championship.
I thought I read where no volleyball team had ever beaten 2 number 1 seeds in a single NCAA tournament ever.
These young ladies beat THREE NUMBER 1 SEEDS.....BEAT A 2 SEED....BEAT A 9 SEED...AND BEAT THE OTHER 1 SEED (t.u.) during regular season play.
No excuses. No BS.
It's the equivalent to beating Miami...then Ohio State...then Georgia....then Indiana...and telling them all to kiss our azzes.
So these ladies truly focused and pulled together even when things didn't go their way (lost to t.u in SEC tourney semis and fell behind 2 sets to 2-seed Louisville).
But these ladies fought through with FOCUS and GRIT.
AND NO EXCUSES!
The football team needs to absolutely learn a
A HUGE LESSON FROM THESE LADIES.
And which coach deserves the 11 million contract and extension?
Morrison or Elko...I will leave their resumes up to you to decide.
Football just got beat by a mediocre Miami team.
Volleyball HAMMERED THE TOP ECHELON TEAMS IN ALL OF THE UNITED STATES!!
These football players need to wake up and see what it takes to win a national title.
These ladies provided the PERFECT EXAMPLE.

That was the hope. Everyone is beatable on any given day. Just string together a few wins and finally be the team of destiny using an easier schedule to get in the door then finally put it all together. Beating tu would have made the path easier but we got an extra life with a winnable home game. Blowing this opportunity was brutal.

Now we have to hope to do it the traditional way over time by building what it takes to routinely compete with the legit contenders instead if being Cinderella in Elko year 2. But, we've never been able do it so who knows. Odds are bad.

My only hope is that the Rangers finally won one when I figured they never would after 10 and 11.

I don't agree. I actually loved our draw. Ohio State at the Cotton Bowl. then most likely George at the fiesta bowl. everything was set up, perfect. we just needed to win the home game, and we didn't. it's on us.

There shouldn't have been two G5 teams, Ole Miss lucked out, but they should also have a solid game to play as well which would have been Notre Dame and they would've lost.

I agree with those stating Klein was not as focused because of his new job. I think that hurt us more than anything.

But even with all that if our defense doesn't give up the 56 yard run, we probably win. We ran a linebacker out of position on that play on 1st down. Made absolutely no sense! There are some fundamental flaws with our defensive concept.Elko noted it in his press conference, so hopefully some positive changes are made in the off-season.

Yes, we could have drilled a g5 that should not have been in the playoffs and then lost in the next round.

We will soon find out FWIW. IMHO most of the teams in the SEC who played as bad as the offense wouldn't have faired as well
There is still something suspect about the playcalling regardless. We had another OC before Sumlin back in the RC days and he wasn't worth a dam so RC got rid if him. I believe his name was Dino Babers
But in end the responsibility is on Elko and the AD IMHO.

I don't think Miami has a great offense. They are not beating a handful of teams in the playoffs.

It was clear by halftime of the Miami game the team was going nowhere even if we won. Reed regressed too far to be competitive. We would have beaten JMU or Tulane but wouldn't have mattered. You cannot win with the QB play we got towards the end of the year

8 turnovers in 3 games, bypassing Citadel. 10 if you toss in LSU.

We were lucky to overcome him in 2 of those 4

I think Miami is probably pretty good, maybe better than Alabama or OU. It's a tough draw for a 7 vs. 10 seed, but at the same time we were going to have to play somebody good eventually.

I appreciate you managing to bookend the post above with the two main hallmarks of Aggie football fandom:

1. "If only"
2, "Hopefully/ next year..."

If you can't beat Miami, you aren't going very far in the bracket.

This

If we had the stuff to win it all we would have handled Miami at home

And to that other poster, Miami is not winning it all

Ohio ST is going to shut their offense down, only they will put up some points unlike us

Ohio st 23 Miami 10

My pick to win it all is still Georgia
