I'm wondering about Reed. Didn't love his answer when asked if he would leave to another school if offered. He said he would talk to his parents before making a decision. He gone?

There's a pretty strong argument to be made that transferring down a level to the big12/acc would be in Marcel's best interest if any of those schools can pay him. The situation next year with a new QB coach, rookie play caller, completely new offensive line and a more difficult schedule might not be in his favor. It's easy to imagine a scenario where early season struggles lead to his benching and losing a year of development/eligibility.

I wouldn't say Reed is irreplaceable. He's a good, not great QB who seemed to hit a wall a bit here midseason. Not saying I want him to leave but it wouldn't be losing someone transcendent like Johnny or Von.

he is not. Kansas St's qb is very similar to Reed - good scrambler, can't hit the broadside of a barn. Avery Johnson absolutely did not dominate the B12 and it's arguable that he is better than Reed.

I don't think we'll lose any meaningful contributors we want to keep.

Despite this board's mood today (justifiable as it may be), the guys on the team probably feel like they're right there. I don't think you're going to see guys bailing because they don't think we can win.

A place like tech or Cougar high would be good for him. I'm not saying this as an insult to him. But I think he could thrive in programs like those and in the big 12.

Probably about 10 dudes in the "who's that?" category that got plenty of recruiting stars and never panned out that'll go to lower level programs. Maybe 1 or 2 "big name" guys. Portal management > HS recruiting if you're expecting to improve your team year to year.

That was the hypothetical Reed was given on the Robert Griffen podcast where he essentially said he would be gone for a $4M NIL deal.

Problem is if we aren't already chasing a top QB, then its may already be too late.

Yes rules on contacting, but I don't know them (ie can teams talk to those who have officially entered?).

Reed is a sophomore that has a way to go before he hits his ceiling. I expect him to improve.

Problem with Kleins scheme is that the good defenses figured it out by end of the season but Klein didn't make many adjustments. Play calling got super predictable. Reed was more effective when the rolled him out yet Klein left him sitting in the pocket without many options.

A lot of Reeds issues are mechanical and fixable. Not setting his feet and missing high. Good defenses figured out they just need to sit in zone and watch his eye.

Running the ball must be a priority this offseason. Losing Moss hurt. Now we have no power runner and rotating speed runners every other play and sending them up the gut isn't helping

Gotta have a QB that goes thru progressions.
Rarely gets beyond his primary options, being KC and Craver.
Many times Bussey was open and overlooked

His issues are zone defense he's awful in the red zone half of his ints were thrown there. Regardless of OC he's gonna see zone all day just like Texas and Miami games. He needs to get some accuracy he missed guys wide open all day yesterday.
