Call me crazy but, do we (12th man) really make it a home field advantage? Pat and all the other pundits talks us up for our environment, but when you look at it we lose at home. Miami this year, SC nearly had it, we lost to tu last year, hell even App St beat us years back. I could go on but i think yall get it... i just don't think teams fear playing in Kyle field like we're led to believe.

... Us pissing down our leg doesn't help either but that's another topic.

The only home field advantage is having superior players and coaching.

The crowd was rocking, but it can only do so much when the team just isn't that good.

Our crowd is absolutely an advantage. It is obvious the crowd disrupts some plays, communications and timing. Even Saban said it is the hardest place to play and you can't even hear yourself think in our stadium on the field. However, you have to understand the extent of what the crowd can do. Just because 100,000 are screaming their heads off doesn't mean we win every game. It is advantage, not a guarantee.

I think it's so hyped up by the media that it helps the other team. The data clearly shows that.

the communication now days with headsets in helmets, signs and hand signals has taken some of the 12th man noise factor away
I wanna see our defense pissed off, not confused, maybe a little murder in their hearts Reload12, 11/4/11

We are a top 5 atmosphere but this team is only good and played a weak schedule, lucked out a few times and declined late in the year and did not finish. Unfortunately this was the year for a run schedule wise. Next year will be tougher schedule and I expect more losses. Elko will have to answer if the trajectory is still trending up. But plenty of excuses:new OC, new DC, Lost too many seniors etc…BAS is still alive and well

The crowd on Saturday was definitely a reason why home field advantage exists - noisy and loud from the start to the bitter finish. The problem is, the team has to actually perform to that advantage. There were a couple of times during the game when I told my son that I thought we had just grabbed momentum, but unlike other times this season, that momentum didn't go anywhere. When your QB is throwing two interceptions after having fumbled earlier, in a game like this, you probably are not going to win. Yes, we could have won this game without at least one of those turnovers, but our team just didn't have it when it really counted.

No program is given more by its supporters with those supporters receiving less in return, than Texas A&M football. This program historically wilts on the big stage under the brightest lights.

7-1 at home this year... I would say yes.

Should have won that game easily. Any other competent OC would have gotten us there.

Multiple chances in the red zone and 3 pts?

It's far better to play at home but you still have to be the better team.

To have a great home field advantage, you have to have momentum.

Aggie offense had one really great shot at getting that. After tying it at 3-3 and immediately getting the ball back near midfield after the fumble. That right there should have been momentum seizing, game over scoring drive.

If we did that, going up 10-3 or even 6-3 with a few minutes left… you would have seen the homefield advantage take us to a win.

It's absolutely one of the best environments in cfb. Is it a difficult place to play? I don't know simply bc of the technology now allows better communication on the field. Crowd noise in general isn't quite as impactful as it used to be.

Having a better coach would probably help the results.

Miami only scored 10 points. Yes home field matters. Reed and line were just that bad

They lose that game by 20+ if anywhere else

Home Field advantage is crowd noise. Crowd noise has nothing to do with the home team's offense.
Our defense played lights out against Miami and the 12th Man helped in that regard. But the offense sucked and the home field advantage had nothing to do with it.

This, offense destroyed any type of momentum. Pieces were there multiple times.

The home field crowd is not the problem. The crowd deserves a better product on the field.

Statistically, virtually any home field football venue adds about 3 points to point spread. We are not much different than the average in that regard.

SMU didn't need one to beat Miami. They just decided to call a game that put points on the board.

0 TD's last 2 years last 2 home games. If it happens a 3rd time...last home game of the year gona be a hard sell for fans.

I don't think it's an advantage, but I think it's fun and makes games a more marketable product for TV.

Yes, the 12th Man has been giving us home field advantage this season. We finished with an undefeated 7-0 regular season home record for the first time ever. Our defense held Miami to 10 points, the fewest points by a CFP winner, and Miami kicker Carter Davis made just 1/4 field goal attempts. We outgained Miami 326 to 278; had 21 first downs to 12 first downs and won the time of possession 33:44 to 26:16, but we lost the turnover margin 3 to 1. Also, we scored just 3 points on 3 red zone trips because of a blocked 22-yard field goal and a game-ending interception in the end zone.

Jennings threw for 365 that game.
Reed had to fight some wind, but wasn't even completing the short easy throws.
I bet Jennings would have completed the short easy throws.

Edit to add:
SMU's offensive line isn't better than ours.
As a team, they ran for 23 yards. Gave up 2 sacks.
Respectable QB play can help keep a defense honest.

Miami threw 2 picks. SMU lost 1 fumble.

We get semi-respectable QB play, we likely win that game.

I can't think of a single game in my fandom that Kyle has made a difference in us sneaking away with a win we otherwise wouldn't have. Maybe 2010 Nebraska?

If Saban point blank says it's the loudest in the country and absolutely affects the other team, I'm not sure there's much else to say.

It's possible to have one of the best atmospheres in the country, and still have a team that lays an egg against an App St.

But that's not on the crowd, or the environment.

We are the gift that keeps on giving. We are the "Tommy Boy's Pretty Little Pet Sale" of college football.

Every time the press and media start to give us the benefit of the doubt and give us a little press, we turn into "Jo-Jo the Idiot Circus Boy" and **** the bed.

It's what we do, it's what we've always done.

For the first time that I can remember dkr was very loud, considerably louder, when we played tu than Kyle was vs Miami.
Our OL had all types of issues at dkr and I don't recall Miami having many.
Very disconcerting. I spare me the night game vs 11am comparison because that tu game was very loud compared to our last 5 home night games
