If we never win at the highest level, it is because of fans like you.

Well that's settles it then. Shut down the football program. The Spirit Halloween people will be here soon to move into Kyle.
Give me the guy who shoots for excellence and fails over the guy who shoots for mediocrity and succeeds.

Dude. A&M is one of the most valuable sports programs in the country. This year alone it trails only Texas and Ohio State.

It's a business. They treat it like a business. But also expect you to be an "good Aggie" about it all.

As we move into the new era of cynical college sports, I would suggest keeping Aggie culture and your experience on one hand, and sports on the other. The two are not related.

I don't think you understood what the OP was saying.

A&M is a top 5 valuable athletic department because we have the most loyal and generous fans in the country. That doesn't mean our administration is allocating that value in the right way to win a championship in football. They aren't, or at least haven't been for 30 years.

I agree with what you're saying. You'll never see Ohio St. or Oregon or any of the other perennial playoff teams enter a season with an inconsistent QB like Reed, they are always looking to upgrade.

Not many Saban teams had so many drive killing, point removal procedure penalties as we did this year!!!

But it feels like next season will be a rebuilding year so does it make sense to buy a one year mercenary when you're rebuilding both lines and with so much coaching turnover? It might just be better to spend the money elsewhere and then reevaluate QB in 2027.

Oh brother. Alabama won a truck load of championships with a bunch of mediocre at best QBs.

Every program struggles to find a good QB because it is, by far, the hardest position to project and evaluate.

OP forgets, we are not a football school. We are a Volleyball school.

I should have just said…. We won't win it all bc we are loyal….to a fault! I don't live and die by Aggie Football so I'm kind of proud of that but that don't mean I ain't RedAss as anyone else. Gig'em.

Once again, if Elko decides to ride with Reed next season, it will not turn out well and make people start asking if he's serious about this. In the last 5 real games (not including Samford), Reed had 8 interceptions. 4 in the last 2 most important games. We've scored 10 points in our last 6 quarters. That's not going to get us there. It's clear as daylight.

What's really frustrating, if Reed had been Reed from the ND game or even the second half of the South Caroline game. Aggies win conveniently and puts the football world on noticed. Instead, the Aggies proved they are are not good under the spot light. Next year is going to be tough to watch.

OP is correct. I've been posting about this for many years. The culture of family and loyalty at A&M, while it makes Aggies feel good, impedes us from doing the uncomfortable things that are necessary to win a championship. The two can't coexist.

Yeah. Our volleyball team seemed to no sense of family and unity. Strictly business.

Relative to football, nobody cares about volleyball. Not comparable.

The root of our failure is that our AD never feels any pressure from the fans.

The Aggie culture makes us just like Cowboys fans: content to endlessly live on 90s nostalgia and endlessly and faithfully consuming tickets, and merchandise every year no matter how mediocre we are year in and year out so the AD never feels any pressure to win titles the way refusing to buy tickets or buy merch would

I want our Aggie family coaches and players to win titles . Who doesn't want their family to win titles ? I am 100% sure Elko does . He wants it for himself , his staff, his players , and for the broader Aggie family.

What is it that OP is suggesting ? that we won't ever win it all and just accept it or change the culture or is it something else? The. Culture has definitely evolved over time and we have pretty much tried
everything wrt football program leadership. This last cycle of hfc hiring we heard every name out there as a possibility. Personally I think we landed with the best choice we could have and there has been marked improvement season over season with only 2 seasons to judge by.

We landed the second best. Cignetti would have been the best which is just the thing-We don't have football guys looking over ALL of college football for the BEST coach. Our leadership failed by supplying us with Stoops for crying out loud when they should have been pursuing something special all along-like Cignetti..Imagine a leadership like Indiana where the leadership actually knows more than the casual fan and isn't afraid to act on it.

Speak for yourself.

I could give a rats ass if Elko and Reed are "family". It's been 86 years…. just win.

Horse***** If we ever win a natty I guarantee the complaints will turn to focusing on whether or not former students say Texas A&M on Sundays.
