Most of it was just how things played out though.

7 was fairly low for us imo, although our conference schedule and late season loss took us below all the other 11-1 teams.

Miami was rightfully a 10 seed. 10-2 with two wtf losses and no conference championship game appearances.

But after tonight, it's apparent that Miami is playing some of the best football. They just took down Ohio State who was the consensus top team all year until they dropped a close game against #2 Indiana.

Miami is a GOOD 10 seed. Very unfortunate we drew them round one. Just how it goes.

We had them at home, everything in our favor. We simply didn't get it done. Championship teams no matter the draw close the show, we have a ways to go.

Meh they got a fluke win at home against us. Good for them, but we beat our powderpuff teams. They lost to theirs.

Next year just gets harder for them.

C'est la vie. But it would have been nice to draw James Madison and Tech. Feel much better about those 2 than Miami and Ohio St.

The simple design of championship brackets mean that champion always closes the show. That's the point of the bracket.

Be able to run the ball or throw a forward pass and we win against Miami.

We shat the bed in 2/3 aspects (offense and special teams) in that game.

No more moral victories - move on.

This. If we win the game like we were suppose to, then we have have a great path through the playoffs. But if we can't win when we are suppose to, how are we suppose to win when we don't?

Again, it's always someone else's fault we sh** the bed. It doesn't matter who we played or what we were ranked or what they were ranked. We have the athletes to beat anyone of the 11 others in the bracket. We just flat out didn't get it done. Turning the ball over 3 times by QB will never beat anyone. Our D played the game of their lives but offense(as usual) could NOT score 1 TD in 4 qtr of play. Until we get a OC who can run play action, boot leg, under center and motions AND get a QB who doesn't fold under pressure we're gonna be at the cusp of playoff contention and 1 and dine.

The refs helped tu win.
The BDF Conference refs hosed us against Miami.
The Committee hurt us in the seedings.

We always have to overcome the externals. It gets old but at least we have our integrity.

No we didn't. The 11AM Saturday game was the top slot tv wise. If they didn't like us, they would have put us on TNT.

We held Miami to 10 total points. That will probably be the lowest points throughout the playoff run for them. When your O can't sustain drives, score points, eat clock and wear down their D it's ridiculous to expect our D to hold them ton3 all game. Our D did what they were supposed to do to win the game.

I'm the last advocate for moral victories, but last night did confirm that we got screwed by the committee's overreaction. Even still, we were a play a way from tying the game to go to OT. Also, I have much more respect for our defensive performance.

Key to all of this, if Marcel hits 65% of his passes, we probably win and cover. Hope that we've got an incredible hire coming at QB coach.

Ole Miss had two "quality wins" against playoff teams in Oklahoma and Tulane (though I would put an asterisk next to Tulane as a playoff team). Our only quality win was Notre Dame.

Ole Miss lost to Georgia. We lost to Texas. Their loss is better.

Otherwise, both teams played and beat the losers of the SEC.

That doesn't seem like "no excuse." They were two teams with similar resumes and the same record, but Ole Miss got the nod due to better quality wins and a better loss.

It wasn't a conspiracy.

I feel good about this season because Elko didn't lose to bad teams. A lot of good teams and coaches didn't achieve that. This year was a positive, but don't make it out to be more than it was.

Nothing wrong with the draw.

The cliff we fell off was SCe. We failed to make our statement. We weren't ready to play and had to make a once in a lifetime recovery to pull off the win against a much lower ranked SEC opponent (at home). The worst thing was that our "re-tune" game was against some high school in Alabama. Then, when we arrived in Austin a week later, we were still not game ready and got beat for real.

I still think if we would've beat sip, we would've beat Miami - but we never reset and moved on after the loss, The bubble had burst. The doubt was there. Team was shell-shocked by the magnitude of the game and although the defense played their asses off, the offense (and offensive coordinator/traitor) failed to score.

Next year.... (it's always is next year).

All we had to do was score 11 points at home and we move on. We scored 3.

I don't want to hear about crappy draws; we ought to be able to score 11 at home against anybody.
