This place thought we were just going to blow it all up, move on from Reed and try to find something better in the portal.

I think Reed needs to drop the whole Gingerbread man thing, keep quiet and just play. Just my opinion but he needs to give up trying to be a dropback passer and use his legs alot more, that is his lane. He is inaccurate downfield and at this point that isn't going to magically change. He is a capable college QB as long as he sticks with what he is good at, use his legs, short to intermediate passes and let the WR get YAC. Complement with a better running game and we will be okay. Just expressing my opinion.

I think Marcel is a great representative of A&M and a great teammate.

However, what am I missing? How can he be so tone deaf? He just played a terrible month of football. He was a top if not the top reason we lost to Miami. He is a turnover machine and has proven he cannot consistently throw down the field (and by the Miami game, could barely throw a screen pass.).

It seems like a great time to keep your head down and focus on improvement. Even if he doesn't think he lost us the Miami game, he should realize a lot of fans have reasonable cause to believe that. And yet, he has the audacity to release a post stating "I'm back" as though he was considering leaving. This seems like the first sign of off the field immaturity.

And then Billy with a comment about a proud dad moment when sharing. I don't understand that comment apart from the implication next years NIL for Reed was finalized and his dad is proud of that accomplishment.

If I was Reed, I would take money from the highest bidder. But show some humility; Reed played a TERRIBLE mont of football. He should be apologizing to teammate not seeking glorification as though he's a savior for the football team next year.

Good! Solid player that contributes in many ways. As with all positions, hope Elko adds another player to compete/win QB1.

I'm not overly depressed about this.

Some key areas where HE MUST improve and where the new OC needs to utilize his skill set:
*He's a DUAL THREAT QB, use his skill set.
*Stop the hesitation coming out of the pocket.
*Roll him out of the pocket more.
*Get the ball out of hands MUCH quicker.
*He MUST trust his receivers, let them make plays.
*Don't be afraid to turn it loose.
*Footwork. The #1 issue with Reed.
*Start these games on a positive note, by getting him in a rhythm with short passes to OPEN receivers .
*Utilize our RB's and TE's in check downs more.

I truly believe he doesn't suck, I think he has been tainted by an inept play caller and QB coach.

He goes down at the slightest touch. That's why we want him heavier.

This is nearly exactly how I feel... square peg, round hole.

The 2026 play caller will make/break Marcel's legacy.

Some of yall are insufferable. First loyal quarterback that lasted a whole season without injury in 5 years. He's been here since 2023.

Players that actually WANT to play HERE instead of for the highest bidder is extremely rare, especially for the QB position.

The difference between RB1 and RB2/RB3 was pretty profound. It put a lot of pressure on Marcel when Le'Veon went down. Unfortunately, the coaching and play calling didn't adapt the gameplay to take advantage of his dual threat skill set. Maybe it was because we had the same difference between QB1 and QB2/QB3.

Does Reed call the plays? Maybe the new OC is the answer.

It's less this, IMO, and more the Oc's willingness, of lack thereof, to center a game plan around Reed's best assets: his quicks and open field instincts.

You are 100% correct that if Reed was 190 instead of 170, he likely breaks a FEW more tackles, but it wouldn't be a lot. The real asset to weight is his ability to absorb hits, and give Wiggins the confidence to actually RUN REED!

Klein force fed a drop back, pocket passing game upon this offense in significant part, IMO, due to his fear of Reed getting injured. Couple injury concerns with a terrible backup QB situation, and I would wager the coaches felt the entire integrity of the offense was precariously teetering on the friable edge of a cliff that was Reed's health (particularly after Moss went down).

Get this out of your mind. He's essentially the same size as he was when he debuted against Oklahoma State and that was 3 years ago?

Would've been less hate on Reed if we finished the season 7-5 or 8-4. It would've been written off as us just being who we are. Now, everybody is playing the "what could've been" game.

If Reed was only this and that, we could've done this and that. If we had Chambliss or Mendoza, we could've won the natty.

Some people will never be happy.

once again i am sure i am in the minority but i am glad reed is back. i saw him change from a game manager qb to a qb who can lead a team most of the time. he developed this year regardless of his last few games. i personally believe he is very similar to jayden daniels and if you look at both there progressions there is a lot of similarity and reed has played better competition up tbis this point beciase jayden daniels started his first few years at ASU we need to surround him with talent and a good offensive line but if he can take another leap this year i think he will be pretty damn good.

he needs to work on his lower half, deep throw tough and just continued recognition of defenses.

i would also add that elko is lucky everyone perceives marcell as the reason why we lost to both texas and miami and not our defense who was gutted on the ground the last two games much like last year.

How can you blame them though? 3 turnovers created by him in one playoff game? Thats one heck of a "what could have been" talking piece.

Sure, he played a poor game and he shares a lot of blame for the loss (was very average against tu, too).

But he did take us to 11 wins. Was he great? Nope. He was good enough. He needs to improve if we want to take it to the next level.

We got Reed and there ain't nobody else coming in to save the day. The guy isn't as bad as what some people think he is.

Are you familiar with Mendoza and his story? Chambliss and the Ole Miss story?

Both QBs transferred in for the 2025 season

I think we need to support our team and Marcel now. Like many here, I was disappointed the way the offense played towards the end of the season too. But now it's time to move on and trust that Coach Elko and his big brain have a plan to get us back into the playoffs next season.

All the teeth gnashing isn't going to make Elko go out and find a replacement for Reed. Whether that's the right decision or not, we'll find out next year.

Inaccurate quarterbacks dont magically become accurate. More likely than not, Reeds passing ability has peaked. He might improve as a game manager but not as a passer.

The college football world definitely let out a collective laugh when they heard this, just like when Manning announced he was coming back. The comments are mocking him nonstop. I can't believe he thought to announce a "I'm back" when he's universally considered a joke in the college football world at the moment.

He beat a bunch of bad teams beyond ND, and often with us having to scheme around Marcel's mediocre performances. And we know nobody is coming to save us, bc people like you insisted on keeping him. Lol
