getting 5X the "salary" as the average OC for playing 12-15 games per year in COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Crazy about of money. It would be so fun being an above average football player at this point in time. Just chase the bag. So much money to be made. Transfer every year so you get more money. Even if you don't get paid millions, man earning a quarter to half a million each year of play would set you up by the time you are done playing 22-23 YO. Literally take a whole year off and travel the world

So according to a lot of posters Ags need a new qb, but Tech just signed a guy with about 200 less total yards overall to include about 350 less passing yards. Read had a few less tds and 7 more picks, but was sacked 10 more times. Reed also has a higher completion percentage…..but "he is an awful qb" …..funny funny times. I'll chalk up the Big 12 vs SEC thing as a wash as Reed had a better supporting cast.

I haven't seen him play, but heard he is a running quarterback. He had 100 carries this season. Why pay so much for a quarterback when they will likely limit his running to prevent risk of injury?

Because tech is willing to and also able to pay him $5 million does not mean that he is worth it.

IF he's an elite qb- 5 million is a bargain.

The NFL rookie pay scale is artificially low. What do starting qbs in the NFL make post-first contact? Far more money... up to 10 times more....

I used to tell people the best part is out CFB was that It dint matter who wore the jersey as I would always just root for the jersey.

They would say that players should get paid because the schools made so much money.

I would remind them that only like 20 schools actually make any money on their program and football funds and basketball funds are used for all the losing revenue sports.

So they would say to let the boosters help, and I said well that will be good for Texas A&M and Texas Tech because we have more money than a lot of other schools so becareful what you ask for…

Well here we are.

If billionaires make tech and other mid-level (fan base) programs into top 10 teams, then TV ratings will suffer. Will be interesting to see how all this evolves.

I guess receivers don't drop/miss passes. PFF rates QBs on catchable balls.

5 mil? Drop in the bucket compared to a Jimbo buyout.

We at least do research on our recruits because we have the best in the game with James Blanchard. A&M just takes whatever they can get. It dropped off quite a bit last year after Craver and Concepcion. We had a whole defense and receivers perform.
