Why do they say "committed"? They obviously signed an NIL contract. It's "technically" not a commitment anymore. It's a "free agent' signing.

Yeah, I looked at the slot money the other day. If I remember correctly, $5 was 1st year money for the #9 pick and total 4 year money for a slot somewhere in the late 20s.

If we are going to do this NIL crap....it needs to be performance based. A contract for $5MM and he could come in and be a massive flop.

Good for these college players. Get your money when you can. Most will not sniff the NFL and if they do likely will have a crappy rookie contract paying much less.

The real money is in the signing bonus. Mid-1st rounders last year were getting $10-$11mm in signing bonuses on top of the ~$5mm salary.

I think we all saw that gift of a bye was based on nothing but an easy schedule. You're basically a G5 school.

Money has been the game for a long time now. The Big 12 broke up largely because of the Longhorn Network and revenue implications of it. OU and UT didn't move to the SEC because they wanted to play better teams. They wanted to get paid. The SEC and the B1G are the power brokers in college football because ESPN wants to buy ratings and sell advertising, and those leagues have the collective bargaining power to bring Disney money to the table.

It used to be that the money was handled behind the scenes. Now it's above board and people don't like it for some reason.

Eventually we will have NFL minor league teams that play in college stadiums. We are almost there now.

Reed is going to want a raise.

We at least do research on our recruits because we have the best in the game with James Blanchard. A&M just takes whatever they can get. It dropped off quite a bit last year after Craver and Concepcion. We had a whole defense and receivers perform.

But as far as Reed, he was rated 117th in catchable passes by PFF. 25% of his throws are were uncatchable. Just because the statistics prove your post to be shallow doesn't mean the source is garbage.

He is making more in one year than Sanders's 4y NFL contract.
