I'm also seeing that he's getting a lifetime 1% royalty on all oil and gas revenue in West Texas plus a one time $10M payment on top of the $5M

Well, according to the TT head FB coach they had to pay out the 28 million for OL and DL players in the 2025 season as Lubbock is such a butt hole place to live!!!

Got to hand it to Tech. They are really turning themselves into a premier program. Upping the talent, coaching, facilities, etc. Great alumni support, top notch NIL and the culture gets high marks.

They will likely finish as the top program in Texas for '25 to '26 football year in rankings.

I haven't seen him play, but heard he is a running quarterback. He had 100 carries this season. Why pay so much for a quarterback when they will likely limit his running to prevent risk of injury?

He doesn't care! 5 million!

Lmao...sand fleas.

But it is sustainable? Is this just one donor hoping to see a NC before they die?

Where are those for A&M? Lmao. Ridiculous $$$ flying around.

There is a reason Oregon became relevant in football/baseball/basketball.

If I had 10 Bil, what is 50M to win a MNC. These guys spend tens of millions on other stuff regularly and donating on their pet projects. Michael Dell just gave 6 Bil to the Trump fund.

This is how the game is set up and I am happy the kids are making life changing money. If someone gave me $5M to delay going to the NFL, why risk the draft. Ask Sanders.

Sanders could have came back for his last yr and made another $5-7M but made the dumb mistake to go to the draft and makes $4M/4 yrs with only 450K guaranteed.

Who can barely get a first down in their only game against legitimate competition.

A lousy field goal in front of a home crowd isn't much more to write home about. Plus we were a round a head of you. Next.

LOL.

Tech had no business even being in the top 10 teams, nevermind a bye. Everyone who knows football knew it.

Except they won their conference. A&M had a win over crybaby Irish, a lackluster state trooper gate game against SCAR and still at 11-0 heading into the last game had not secured a spot in the SEC championship game. The hole was big enough to fall through and thud against Miami.

When it's all said and done, Tech will finish above A&M in the rankings after the 19th

Congrats on winning your G6 conference of teams nobody wants filled with 2 star recruits who play in front of 40k fans.

The second you played a team outside of your G6 conference, you couldn't score. And that team couldn't even snap the ball properly.

Tech was always a poser.

Crazy. an average qb makes 5 times what the average backup would make in the nfl, and every nfl back would smoke this dude.

Do you watch football? That was. tight QB having a really bad day. Plays were there to be made and the D was stellar.

It came diwn to turnovers (1-4) and bad throws. Things like that happen

Tech played Oregon two years ago and lost on a come from behind FG in vlosing minute. That Oregon team was 11-2 and tech was 6-5.

Quit looking so pathetically jealous. Tech was a very good team with a very good season who had a bad game.

It's called sports. You're hanging your hat on one game makes you look silly.

He isn't worth 5 million dollars but if there are those who are willing to throw money away to chase a chance to not be shut out in the CFP then game on!

He's worth exactly what the market is willing to pay

Because tech is willing to and also able to pay him $5 million does not mean that he is worth it.

This. Buying attention for $5M a pop just isn't sustainable. Even for Cody Campbell

Because it's the only game on Tech's schedule that wasn't against a cupcake.

And Tech spent all year arguing the Arizona State loss wouldn't have happened if they just had their..

Wait for it

Waaaaiiittt

The QB who couldn't score against Oregon.

Tech brings no value to either conference and CC knows it. That's why he's pushing for that pet law of his.

So according to a lot of posters Ags need a new qb, but Tech just signed a guy with about 200 less total yards overall to include about 350 less passing yards. Read had a few less tds and 7 more picks, but was sacked 10 more times. Reed also has a higher completion percentage…..but "he is an awful qb" …..funny funny times. I'll chalk up the Big 12 vs SEC thing as a wash as Reed had a better supporting cast.

Great point. And exactly why we are honestly lucky to have Reed at the helm. We would need to shell out far more than $5M/year for a transfer QB who is proven better than Reed. And guess what folks? That QB doesn't exist in the portal.

We do still need to get a somewhat experienced portal QB out of the portal IMO. But certainly not a Top prospect.

There is only so much NIL money. It is very smart to build around Reed while also giving him more support via Elko staff additions.

We can only hope all the Reed haters, eat a lot of crow next year.

Tech better have a better showing next year as they are spending mad, mad, mad money and that well is eventually going to dry up. I say they make CFP again due to weak Big 12 and take another bad loss. Rinse and repeat.

Sorsby's agent said the deal is closer to $6M and fully guaranteed with final payment due before year end.

Also said LSU and Miami essentially offered the same as Tech. All 3 pressed hard for his commitment and finally settled on Tech by 'gut'.

Explored NFL and estimated he would have been drafted late first round to early 3rd round. Decided to play another year of college to: 1) Make $6M, 2) Increase his draft rank - wants to be no1 overall, and 3) Get more big-time experience - says NFL QBs need to be ready to start on day 1 and thinks he needs another year of college for that - wants to the next Bo Nix

He won't get that in the Big12. It was about the money.

LSU's MMR partner is PlayFly. Can you think of another school partnered with them for $515 million over 15 years?
