a buddy of mine who lives in Lubbock said Cam was at the Las Brisas restaurant last night in Lubbock. Was with Sorsby and Tech big wig. The restaurant is an Upscale steak place owned by big tt alum.

yeah unfortunately Cody is spending lots of money - he gives Sorsby 5 mil when LSU had the highest bid as i understand at 3.5 mil. So yeah Cam probably gets 2 mil - and i doubt we are offering that much. Did i say I hate the NIL lol

If you go to Tech as a football player, I automatically know 2 things about you: you care more about money than anything and you don't like to compete. In today's world, this is the easy way out.
Must be glorious to be an 18-21 y/o cfb player right now. If you're good, every January you get to travel the country to top programs where they wine & dine you and then throw a huge pile of cash your way. You get the same treatment from several schools over about 2 weeks and then pick your favorite.
i was first excited about NIL - i was thinking these guys would get some money so as to actually be able to get a vehicle, go on dates, eat out some, etc. - never dreamed it would get to millions! its just crazy!

I do agree with this overall. The frustrating part is we were ascending the mountain. Slowly chipping away at the SEC West. Starting to build a program to compete with Saban and then BOOM NIL. Saban leaves, Texas/OU join, and it's now only about money. A&M gets a lot of slack but they were doing it the right way. Then things changed… crazy how the rules change as certain teams improve and certain teams aren't performing how they think they should.

We would and will absolutely match a $2 million offer for Cam. LSU also offered close to $5 million for the Washington QB.

ATP I'm just glad we're on the 'evil' side of this because if you're not, you're literally never winning anything. System sucks but I kind of have to be accepting of it. Wish we had won big during the BCS, the 4 team, pre-NIL but that's not obviously not possible anymore unfortunately.

That was never an issue for football and basketball players.
How are these deals structured? When someone gets a $2 million NIL deal is that $2 million for just the next season or is that a total based on some expectation of multiple years? Are there any performance clauses attached or it just $2 mil whether you play good, bad or not at all? These dollar amounts are just insane.
I resolve in 2026 to be more tolerant and respectful of trolls and emotionally fragile, overly pessimistic posters so they don’t run crying to the mods and have me banned for three days.

Winning the off-season (recruiting and transfer portal) is key to winning on the field
Let Raider Rash have him. He's a one-year rental anyway, playing in a weak conference. Why overpay for one player when you've got young talent coming up? Pay one guy that kind of money and suddenly everyone in the locker room wants more.
