Saw a rendering on a 2.8 billion dollar transformation. That seems like a lot a lot.

I grew up around there, I don't think you can put enough lipstick on the pig that is the Texas panhandle but apparently Tech has money to just literally burn.

I think overpaying recruits suits their purpose better but I'm sure they're going to raise the bar there too. Will be interesting to see how far it goes for them.

[If you are going to ask a question like this, which you seem to realize might not be true, you ought to at least post a link Staff]

Where would it be? If it is a complete redo in same location then how are they going to handle that? There's nothing close to Lubbock to use as a substitute

Our administration were idiots when it came to the Kyle Field renovation. Should have torn most if not all of it down and built a proper cohesive stadium.

I don't know if it's complete tear down and rebuild or how they handle it but it talked about a transformation of Jones Stadium. That figure includes a luxury hotel and who knows what else.

We did pretty dang well. What would you have done within the given parameters? Demolish it all and not have played home games for a couple years?

You probably saw some made up AI bull***** Someone sent me a ridiculous looking rendering of Kyle field upgraded and it also said 2.8 billion.

These AI bot farm accounts are getting out of hand. There will be an account that posts an obviously fake article to get people riled up, and the majority of the people commenting clearly have no clue it's fake. AI is making society dumber and dumber.

There was an article posted that said Reed was refusing to be pressured by Tim Cook to promote LGBT during games and the vast majority of the comments were people saying they stood with Reed.

I can't find anything on it other than the rendering and post by "Guns Up Report." Maybe it's bs.

I think that's likely. With the oil man doling it out and a whiff of success it seemed plausible they conjured something up I guess. But going in like that seemed eye-popping.

sure, why not? the new Kyle is great but you can definitely see the new construction vs the zone vs the student section...better than someone turning their 2 car garage into a living room but still clearly an add on once you get inside

Disagreement!!!

The admin did really well to keep us playing and get us moving in the SEC. Totally different time and apparently way cheaper. Our stadium 1/3 this cost and for what? Nice bathrooms in the Zone?

Either demolish (play in Reliant for two years) or build new Kyle somewhere nearby on campus (if possible)..

If we did we'd be the only team in CFB to have an indoor/outdoor pro style stadium of our own. And would generate a ton more revenue for NIL, etc.

Big picture, it should have happened.

And yet everyone who visits Kyle leaves talking about how incredible it is…

And playing out of town would have put every hotel and restaurant in BCS out of business…

And stadiums don't generate money for nil…

And new construction would have had much lower capacity at a cost of 3 or 4 times as much…

But sure, what your fantasy tells you must be true.

Jones is a pretty nice stadium now, but still has terrible sight lines and is small. They couldn't really support a larger stadium but what they have done is nice. The south endzone renovation was nicely done.

Kyle Field is still 10000x better. The ONLY thing I don't like about new Kyle Field is section AC12, it looks absolutely ridiculous.

Maybe if the NFL stadiums had endless ribbon boards, a half-dozen DJs blaring out ****, and a three-ring circus you would enjoy them more.

Kirk Herbstreit has gone on record in saying that Kyle Field is the nicest venue hes ever been to. Considering how many stadiums he's stepped foot in, its a huge compliment and should tell anyone all they need to know about Kyle

Yes and I am talking about the current stadium. Nice facades, good clubs, nice loge areas and premium seating in south EZ with some new suites, but they still don't have a ton of suites and premium areas.

It's small, it looks small and feels small but can be a good atmosphere. Like I said the worst part is the stadium has awful sight lines. You have to be at least 25 rows up to be able to see over the bench areas.

I go to a game there every 2-3 years and it's fun to enjoy some JV football when you don't care about the game result itself.

How would it generate more revenue?

The stadium is already basically full and when it isn't, it's not due to stadium design.

What does the dj have to do with the stadium? The largest NFL stadium is 20,000 seats smaller than Kyle. NFL atmospheres are generally much more stale and boring than college atmospheres. Maybe we can substitute the dj for the announcer telling the crowd to Get Loud with "Get Loud" bouncing up and down on the video board.

I recall one of the popular arguments against a complete tear down and rebuild of Kyle field was the plight of the poor local hotel owners and restaurateurs.

While you can't really destroy the local economy which depends on six, sevennnnnnnnnnn weekends a year to make 95% of their profit, Texas A&M literally did put lipstick on a pig.

Gonna be interesting in the next 20-30 years when football teams are fully owned by private equity and it no longer makes sense to play football at Wellborn and Joe Routt. The board of directors may decide to move whatever the current entity known as Aggie Football becomes in the future to RELLIS or somewhere north of Bryan.

Hell, Texags itself and some ESPN broadcasts officially refer to events as taking place in "Bryan/College Station" instead of just (trigger warning) C-Stat.

If you can't imagine a world where the state of Texas could mandate all private equity-owned sports properties must be moved to non-university real estate for reasons not limited to land investment LLCs being owned by politically-connected folks, you haven't been paying attention.

Its not even college football anymore: its four hour long advertisement blocks using football you have a nostalgic connection to to keep you glued to your couch so you talk to your doc about tummy meds you don't need or buy your porkers at home some Burger King and Dr Pepper.

I see the potential merit to that however we would not have a 100k+ indoor stadium if that had been the approach.

We got a facility where 60% of the seating and 80% of the infrastructure was new for $450 million. A complete rebuild would have forced us to play away from home for at least one season and would have been double the cost. The timing and scope of the project could hardly have been better, yet you call our administration idiots? Post less.
