24 would just be a bunch of play in games--seems you could automatically qualify P4 championship teams.

The proposal being pushed only has one Automatic qualifier: the highest ranked G6 team. Everything else is at large.

They make way too much money on conference championship games so those aren't going away. They also make money on playoff games so those will expand. It's not that hard. When the value of a playoff game is higher than the Poulan Weed-Eater Independence Bowl one thing will disappear.

Big proposal of 24 teams gets rid of ccg's : sec seems to be the only league trying to hold onto their ccg because it is the one that nets the most money

I think the resistance to 24 from Sankey is he wa ts to make sure that if playoffs expand, the sec can make up the lost money from the ccg

Hell no. We watched four "champions" lose their byes year before this one. We know why: the Big 12 "champion"ship where first they had two divisions that were unbalanced and then they had round robin play but were forced to play off the top two teams (who had already played each other) to get in a 13th game so the committee would of seat them.

I don't have a proposal yo fix the committee BS, but byes for the "champions" is an anti-pattern that should be avoided at all costs. Even the granddaddy of bowl games put the lie to that brilliant idea…which opposed a meaningful national championship game and preferred their own self-righteousness.
