If Rice alums contribute anything to sports, it would probably be baseball, but Rice just doesn't care that much about sports.

How does this mean nothing???

This is massive! Top 10 ranking! Woo Hoo!

Let's keep it rolling, but next year schedule does not bold well unless our mercenaries on OLIne pan out.

Sometimes Ags just need it spelled it out for them...and they still won't get it.

It means we were ranked slightly lower than Tech and slightly higher than Bama by a gaggle of sports reporters and pundits. Many, many of whom voted for Penn State, Texas, or Alabama to win it all this past season. While it's nice referring to it as massive is a bit of a stretch.

Just a friendly reminder that ESPN's rankings never have and never will mean anything. AP/Coaches Poll's and the CFP rankings are the only ones that matter. This holds as much meaning as my local Helena, Arkansas newspaper's top 25.

Well....where does the Helena paper have us??? Come on man, don't tease like that without sharing.

And Texas Tech is still overrated. They were exposed as the frauds they were and still got ranked at 7.

Oh the tears. As delicious as ever. Please, by all mean keep posting. And maybe , just maybe Tech finishing 12-2 was the reason for the finish.

No one is crying. They are ridiculing you for being exposed. Not a single good win. Not one.

It was a disappointing ending with consecutive losses to Texas and Miami, but I am happy with 11 regular season wins and finishing ahead of Alabama, Notre Dame, Texas, and Oklahoma.

We will see....IU got blown out in their first CFP appearance last year and won the Natty this year.....with the new state of CFB, its a new game every year.....

Indiana plays in a real conference and has a great coaching staff. Tech has neither. They are a fraud just like Tulane/JMU and all the other G6 teams.

Your expert opinions don't mean crap..... Tech will be in the mix again next year whether you like it or not, with a real QB this time which was our achilles heal, and a D that should be close to what we had this year....

Real question is on the OL.

A&M will be there as well....

By mix you mean winning a G6 d conference and backing into the playoffs again?

Tech will quite likely be undefeated and heading to the playoffs next year. Have you seen their schedule? Who is going to beat them?
Being in TexAgs jail changes a man……..no, not really

Actually "they" whoever they is really didn't try at all this year. In fact, they actually tried really hard NOT to put Notre Dame in the playoff. Texas was merely an afterthought..just like all but about 4 seasons since 1970

I did not realize 2020 and 2012 were the last times we were the best team in the state. I would think it would be us or t.u. fighting for it every year given the resources.

People say "other than Covid year" like tha had some kind of difference in the SEC. We were really really good that year and by end of year, maybe great.

You might remember 2012 when we last played big 12 champs ou and crushed them in the Cotton Bowl and finished in the top 5 I think. JFF won the Heisman and we beat national champs Bama. I understand with LSUs bad season we are now third best record in the sec since
We joined. Behind only Bama and Georgia. Tu will never catch us in sec wins. Ever.

It seems like it'd be exhausting patrolling other school's message forums to ensure your school is given the proper amount of self-perceived "e-respect". Do you all scour sip, Baylor, TCU, or Okie State message forums too, or is the intense effort limited to TexAgs?

I'm fairly certain we all know the answer.

I think they should just get rid of the AP and Coaches poll and whenever the first CFP poll comes out for the season, that's your initial ranking and go from there.

late to the party...but good to see that the Ags finished / remained in the top 10

obviously it helped that Miami went all the way to the title game

thought the voters might get cute and put a couple of non-playoff teams ahead of A&M

and so for the 3rd time since joining the SEC...

A&M finished in the AP top 10

2012, 2020, and 2025

also nice for the fans that it was only 5 years between top 10 seasons

for comparison...

A&M never finished in the final top 10 during the Big 12 era (16 seasons)

the 98 squad finished #11

Six Texas schools in the top 25? How many times has one state had 6 or more teams in the top 25? I doubt even California or Florida could have done that.

Are you really comparing 1998 Big 12 to 2025 Big 12 which is now full of community college teams and poor programs that can't compete at the highest level.

All it took for Technical to finally win the Big 12 was for NU, Mizzou, aTm, OU and TU to leave…..

just the facts

when looking at the last 40 years of aggie football...

it's the Big 12 era (1996-2011) that was the dark days

A&M has performed considerably better in the SEC (despite some rough stretches under Sumlin and Jimbo)

There's no quicker way to put a defeatist attitude on an Aggie than a road trip to Lubbock. You can quote me on that.

See that link again, ESPN predicts us to beat A&M in the CFP…even after the goose egg. Unlike A&M, they don't live in the pre NIL world and look at Tech as they were 20 years ago.
