Wow! Billy Bob, you are the man. You're right on both. Will link Billy Yates' Wilipedia page below. And, I plead guilty for never catching that we had not included Braden Mann and Ainias Smith from the 2025 SB Champion Eagles. After starting with a base of the 15 included in the 2024 AggiesWire piece, I remember thinking about checking on the Eagles. Seems like I even saw Mann and Smith mentioned in an article but never added them.

In any case, we are now up to 24 former A&M players who have either played (22) or coached (2 - this still seems low) in winning Super Bowls. Pretty impressive. Plus, we have to be optimistic our trajectory for Super Bowl winners is going to improve with the players Coach Elko will be putting in the NFL. Right?

Jeff Fuller? Either I am mistaken or there are errors on that list

Super bowl champion with 49ers in the 80s.

Thanks for the correction. I was thinking about the WR, I forgot about his dad.

Howdy, Ags,

I'm providing a quick summary of our discussion on former Texas A&M players who have won or coached winning Super Bowl teams (and are, therefore, Super Bowl Champions).

If you Google "Former Aggies who have won the Super Bowl," there are two primary hits, a 2024 AggiesWire article and a similar one from Sports Illustrated. The AggiesWire article, with a list of 15 (14 players and 1 coach, Gary Kubiak), served as a starting point, We then added nine (8 players and 1 coach, Gene Stallings) to get a total of 24. I've subsequently found four more, bringing the total to 28.

The 28 former players are arranged chronologically below, followed by his team and the Super Bowl number. Apologies to the purists who prefer Roman numerals and for those who object to the "wall of words."

1. Lee Roy Caffey: Green Bay, 1 and 2; Dallas 6
2. Tommy Maxwell: Dallas, 5
3. Mike Clark: Dallas, 6
4. Gene Stallings: Dallas, 12
5. Lester Hayes: Oakland, 15 and 18
6. Thomas Sanders: Chicago, 20
7. Jeff Fuller (father vs. son): San Francisco, 19, 23, 24
8. Chet Brooks: San Francisco, 23 and 24
9. Kevin Smith: Dallas, 27, 28, and 30
10. John Roper: Dallas, 28
11. Gary Kubiak: San Francisco, 29 and Denver, 32, 33 (all 3 as Assistant Coach); Denver, 50 (Head Coach)
12. Johnny Holland: Green Bay, 31
13. Rich Coady: St. Louis Rams, 34
14. Sam Adams: Baltimore, 35
15. Ty Warren: New England, 38 and 39
16. Bethel Johnson: New England, 38 and 39
17. Billy Yates: New England, 39
18. Rocky Bernard: NY Giants 46
19. Christine Michael: Seattle, 48
20. Michael Bennett: Seattle, 48
21. Von Miller: Denver, 50; LA Rams, 56
22. Martellus Bennett: New England, 51
23. Armani Watts: Kansas City, 54
24. Mike Evans: Tampa Bay, 55
25. Bobby Brown, LA Rams 56
26. Anthony Hines, LA Rams 56
27. Braden Mann: Philadelphia, 59
28. Ainias Smith: Philadelphia, 59

A few observations:

- I suspect this list is still "incomplete" anyone see others that should be included?
- As a reminder, this is for Super Bowl winners. The best I could find for former Aggies who have played in the Super Bowl (and not necessarily won) is "dozens."
- Not surprisingly, Alabama leads among schools with the most Super Bowl winners. They had four on the Seahawks, bringing their total to ~ 60.
- Eight Aggies have won multiple Super Bowls: Four: Kubiak (all coaching). Three: Caffey and Kevin Smith; Two: Brooks, Fuller, Hayes, Miller, and Warren
- The 28 players are spread out fairly evenly over the 60-year history of the Super Bowl. Sam Adams, the 14th winning player, was on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 35 (2001).
- If we were to rank these 28, who should be first? Von Miller seems like a logical #1, since he's the only Ag to have won the Super Bowl MVP (Denver, SB 50). Or maybe, Kubiak with his 4 championships? I also sensed support for Lester "the molester" Hayes (certainly one of my favorites).

Edited to add Clark, Coady, Brown, and Hines.
