Amazes me how much Aggies **** on their own. As far as size and speed, does Jonathan Vilma ring a bell? Dude was 6' 232 ran a 4.55. York is 6' 230 ran a 4.53. Stop with the bs already.

York didn't run the 40 at the combine and had the slowest agility scores in every other metric for LBers. He's too slow. NFL gms know it

Hes not 6' either.

8.5" hands? That is oddly small.

Show me one place other than here where speed was mentioned as a weakness. As a matter of fact I've seen it listed as a strength.

Ok, i'll use the same source that you apparently like to keep copying and pasting from....but apparently aren't reading the entirety of, for some reason:

Overview
York is a defensive quarterback who aligns the front and leads by example with all-day urgency. He's compact with thick thighs and good play strength but struggles to hold up against/shed climbing blocks that find him. His short-area movement is choppy but efficient with quick acceleration to chase outside runs, but he lacks sustained speed. He's in constant "trigger and close" mode but needs better diagnostic patience to avoid missed run fits. He will struggle holding up in man coverage. Linebackers with York's size/length typically face uphill roster climbs, but his tape appears good enough to warrant a backup role with instant special-teams value.

I highlighted the man coverage portion too, just because that particular struggle will be due to limited speed/agility in addition to his limited size/length.

We can go back and forth. He ran a 4.53 at Pro Day whether that's legit or not can be argued but that would put him near the top of this years class. When looking at his profile across multiple sites size and length are the repeated concern. Speed is mentioned in the write up but it wasn't the reason he wasn't drafted.

Also as an FYI issues with man coverage does not mean speed issues.

Plus look at his strengths at least 2 of them could be speed related.

Speed, agility, & quickness all fall under the umbrella of "athleticism", and York is at the low end of athleticism for a potential NFL player. It doesn't matter that he ran a 4.53 40 at Pro Day because none of the other NFL LB prospects ran that day under those same conditions.

What matters is that for the two athleticism tests (shuttle & 3 cone) at the NFL combine that York participated in, where everyone tested under the same conditions, York came in dead last in both. Not below average, not towards the bottom, but dead last by a considerable margin. That is glaring lack of athleticism relative to his prospective NFL peers and that, in combination with less than ideal size, is why he wasn't drafted.

People still hanging on to that freshman All-American standing next to Coop when there were no other freshmen playing. I love this site.

This can't be! Vander has been telling us for months how fast and athletic York is. At this point, I'm convinced Vander is York's agent.

Jmo, unless he turns into some kind of special teams beast he isn't going to see an NFL field much. If any. Not his fault, God gave him what he gave him. He has high upside in the coaching realm. We'd be better having him for another year but that ship has sailed . Wish him the best .

I said point blank why i highlighted the man coverage portion.
And if you don't think speed and athleticism are key components of being effective in man coverage, i don't know what to tell you.

Fairly certain you just see what you want to see.
And that's ok. You do you.

As a previous poster said, maybe he'll pull a "Dobson". Dude was an UDFA and is entering his 8th season this year. Signed a nice contract with Miami the last time around. Not megabucks, but more than most of the posters on this board make in any given year.

I keep hoping that it will eventually dawn on some of these players that CFB is a nice place to be for 4-5 years. You don't have to run off to the NFL at the first opportunity. Warming the bench, and struggling to stay on the practice squad just ain't all it's cracked up to be.

And with NIL now, you can make a pretty good buck doing it in college now too.

If he works hard something good could happen. No different than how he got to where he is.

Been watching a lot of old games (2012 to present). We've been giving up 20+ yard runs with alarming frequency the whole time. What is it about top quality LBs that have been keeping them away from A&M for the last 15 years?
“It was miraculous. It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice. Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character.”

It likely stems from our never ending debate on who actually made The Hit

practice squad money has gone up a bit lately, but it is also paid week to week. For Rookies it's $13k per week, so if you stick for an entire season you can pull down ~$225k. Veterans can negotiate as much as $22k per week (~$375k for a full season). So if you can make a practice squad and stay on an entire seasons, it's not bad money.....but I have to think York, as a captain for A&M was making that or more....who knows.

If he was 6' and ran a 4.5 with his football IQ and motor, he'd be a 1st round pick.
