Look……you put three in the NFL draft, this is the end result. And none of the three in the draft had the pure talent of Matthews and Kennedy Brown if we're being honest. They DEVELOPED into NFL level guys

Seems like a risk/reward issue. We pay big money for high schoolers that may or may not produce, and if we develop them, they can go and get paid elsewhere? Are there any stipulations to NIL these days?

We have lost a total of one starter(Noah Thomas) in the last two offseason. In general, guys who are going to be getting good PT will stay at successful programs.

It's also m much easier to pay to keep guys than go get them out of the portal. It's still usually better to home grow most of your roster. I know people will point out Indiana, but most playoff teams still had 65-75% highs school and 25-35% portal in their two Dee

Yes, they are talking about the small town 3-star TE that was ranked-#441 out of HS, who we transitioned into an OL here and got drafted late. Lol

The 2027 freshmen will never be a part of the 2025 playoff games. So I don't think it matters to them as much as you think. What's more important to them is seeing the upward trajectory of the program and that the staff they're choosing to play for is capable of developing guys with less talent than them into NFL draft picks.
