Texas Tech HC Joey McGuire wants to play Texas Week 1. Boosters have talked to ACU and Texas State, their current opponents, and they have agreed to play each other. Joey wants the game in LBK but is trying to get AT&T as a backup.

Not to back Texas, but this is ridiculous from Tech. They know schedules aren't going to be changed this quickly and their schedule is complete trash. Texas is playing 9 SEC games and OSU. Tech is playing the bottom of the Big12 and OSU(Oregon state)

If this is so important to Tech why are they scheduling ACU, Sam Houston, and Oregon State to begin with?
They could schedule anyone the want in the future too? But they don't have a P4 team on their schedule until 2030 and its Arkansas.

They had Oregon, NC State, and WSU on their schedules back when McGuire got there. Seems he put a stop to that after going 0-3. Kept going down the (former) P12 list until he hit the bottom - Oregon State.

Stop acting like a regional school if you want respect.
Even Baylor scheduled Auburn.

Texas can easily decline and say "we planned to be here so we scheduled good teams like Michigan and Ohio State". Don't come begging now.

(Tech got me defending Texas....damn)

Good on Tceh for creating some publicity

Seems very unlikely they can get a game this year to happen but maybe this is how the Yappy Little mingrel dog gets a shot 2-3 years from now

Tech with no qb headed into the season loses this by 28 before Sark calls off the dogs. I guess tech is just happy having people talk about them and not their gambling addicted qb.

Only way this even has a chance of happening is if they play in Austin. Texas isn't going to go to Lubbock or play another game in Dallas.

I was going to say we should graciously offer to do the same with SMU, but they have in-conference against FSU that weekend. Most of the legit teams have home openers that weekend, would be hard to entice them to come visit or even neutral-site it.

--because the inevitable sip response is, "Oh, if you're so high and mighty, YOU schedule them! They're your main rival anyway, judging by the scoreboards the last few times you played..."

At the end of the year, when their schedule is hot garbage and less appealing than a fat, drunk tech 4 co-ed at 3:00 am, they can say they challenged God's gift to the SEC, ESPN, and the world, but the sips were their typical chicken **** self, and wouldn't do it.

They wont need to be saying anything. They will be undefeated or have one loss with that crap schedule and get a bye. Just like last year. Committee doesn't look at schedule. They look at W's and L's.

We really don't know what committees will do. They change and surprise us all the time across sports as to what matters

The entire point of super conferences was to get the best teams through for the 2 or 4 team playoff. With a 12 team playoff, the super conferences are no longer a positive for that. Especially when the media still considers the big 12 a real conference.

All they had to do was get rid of Nebraska, A&M, Missouri, the sips, and the land thieves… and the tards now have the easiest road to the playoffs every single year.

While the rest of us beat each other up with a real schedule.

You probably follow this much closer than i do. I cannot remember the last time the C had a team with more Ls ranked ahead of a team with less Ls in the final poll (power conferences being compared). My guess is if it happens it is so rare probably not worth a concern.

there's nothing to "have". Do you really think the sips give a crap about Tech? They have OSU with Game Day week 2. After Tech's goose egg against Oregon nobody cares about them. They'll play 12 HS teams and crow but nobody will be listening. Sure as winners of the BDF they'll get into the CFP and get drilled again. Iron sharpens iron. Playing cream puffs every week doesn't prepare a team for the playoffs.

Sark ran his mouth saying Tech plays a weak schedule and if the horns had Techs schedule they could go undefeated using their 2nd and 3rd string and not even playing their starters. Sark basically called out the entire Big12 as being weak.

It's not ridiculous at all. Sark called them out for having weak schedule, and Tech is putting its money where its mouth is. Yes, it's very unlikely, but it puts the onus back on tu to answer for the crap they have been talking.
