Was Iheanacho not just kicked in the face? Did the VAR not see it? If we're gonna go through 3 minute reviews to see ronaldo barely touch someone and give him a yellow, surely these calls need to be made.

Pulisic would've done it if we had qualified.

The dude who got called for the penalty (bald headed defensive midfielder)....he's been a liability the entire game.

He turned the ball over, dangerously, 3-4 times in the first half alone.

Im going to start calling him the Argentinian Michael Bradley.

That could have gone either way, VAR or not...but I think they got it right. It was completely unintentional.

Then they got the Portugal handball wrong yesterday. That one was unintentional as well. Either way, VAR made a mistake with one of them.

Even with replay, the officials still have to make judgement calls. They just have the ability to see clearly what they are calling now.

I know. My entire point is that the review system is still resulting in horribly wrong/missed calls. So why clutter the game up with its bs? Just let them get it wrong in real time, instead of wasting time first.

Im torn on VAR.

But that example isn't of horribly/missed calls.

They are still judgment calls, and can go either way, even after review.

Yeah. That wasnt. That was proof of inconsistency. The ronaldo yellow, and the iheanacho getting kicked in the face no-call are my best examples of a horrible call.

I prefer the games to be mostly right, as they are rather than getting a lot wrong as they have been for years. Also the ends of world cup games have been stop start fests in many MANY games ive seen where refs gave out cards after cards, players surrounding the referee wasting minutes of time. Ref gave a second yellow to one guy and didntsend him off one time. All kinds of BS that absolutely delayed the game just as much as VR does.

If you're going to clutter up a free moving game, yes, I think it needs to be near perfection. I'm honestly seeing what I saw before, a 50% hit rating. It's been bad. And after every dive, the teams immediately encircle the ref to go review. It's not worth all the problems to me.

No card. Review showed minimal contact, and to the shoulder. Not to the face.

Disagree. The refereeing has been way better in this tournament than Ive ever seen before, and the CR's have pretty much still sucked ass just as much as before...so you do the math.

its more like 90% getting the calls right after VAR
you just have a recency bias

You dont have to hit someone in the face to get a yellow card...giving a guy an elbow, especially unwarranted away from the ball is worthy of a card. I would have been surprised if he didnt get one.

If anything, I just havent seen enough matches. Which is likely true.
