new kit reveal... don't love the homes, but the away combo is a home run (as it has been the past couple of years imo)

I expected to hate these but they actually look pretty slick. The black is classic, hope we keep that going for the future.

don't like the new home kit they are calling the "energy kit".. the lightning bolts (tiger stripes?) going diagonally through them? WTF?

still love the away black kits though. they better not mess with that.

Like the away.
Don't hate the home.
My biggest issue is the orange. I still hate that they ended up picking orange as the main color.

Agree to disagree, I guess. I've always liked the orange. It's nice to have a 'distinctive' color that gives the viewer no doubt who we are.

Agree with the distinctive color thing. I just hate orange. Always have, long before I learned to dislike tu.

I recall back when the team was being named, colors picked, etc... there was atleast another option of a midnight blue with orange as the accent. I was in favor of that jersey. Thought the combo looked good but was also distinctive.

I noticed the 2nd leg of the CCL game on Tuesday night is listed as being in fubo 5th and yahoo. I'm not familiar with yahoo sports streaming service.... is that a pay subscription service?

i'll be there tonight... my son and his team are walking out with the players for the national anthems!

...does anyone know if the yahoo sports app broadcast will be re-playable tomorrow or for some time after the game? ...and if so, does anyone have a good solution or app to be able to record clips?

Hmm. I found a yahoo app on Roku... but not a yahoo sports app. For those who have run this before is it just the plain yahoo app? I don't see the game anywhere on there.

it might be more of a home game for Tigres on Tuesday lol.

Should be fun people watching around town. Galleria will be loaded up with Tigres fans during the day. Bet the team will stay at the JW downtown and building security will be working to keep fans out.

I stuck around downtown until 830, but I finally bailed when the last "delay" notification came out. Probably a good move, as we were still an hour from kickoff at that point.

When I watched at home, Gustatoya looked far more comfortable than I would have liked. I figured we would dispatch them with little fuss, but in truth we didn't really look good until we introduced our two best attacking options.

Pumped for next Tuesday night, should be a good atmosphere.

Don't think there's any might about it. I'm gonna guess 75% Tigres fans.

100% agree.

It's not just the Tigres fans who will never see another game in BBVA... we're going to lose regular Dynamo supporters who follow us because they're here, but have supported Tigres since they were born.

I recall the same thing happening when Chivas came to Robertson a while back.

Yep. And until the organization puts on a sustained spell of excellence that includes beating Liga MX relatively consistently, that's never going to change.

Or in other words...it's never going to change.

that's a lot to ask, because the demographics in Houston aren't going to change either. Hell, there were a ton of Guastatoya fans at BBVA on Tuesday night. Next Tuesday, the Tigres fans will be overwhelming and that would still be the case even if Dynamo had strung together some successful seasons and beat some Liga MX teams.

I think that also speaks to the organization as a whole in not cultivating a fanbase and their general effort over the last few seasons.

Atlanta is packing 30k into their stadium, no reason we shouldn't be doing that.

Atlanta plays a really attractive style of soccer, the franchise has invested money to bring in high-quality players and they win on the pitch. Also, Atlanta is easily accessible from most of the state, so I wouldn't look at what they are doing and say it is translatable to Houston.

one would think the Dynamo style... or at least the attacking forwards and wings they have right now with Elis, Quioto, and Minotas, plus the size of the greater Houston area and the large Hispanic soccer-loving population, we should have already been where Atlanta is already.

Atlanta plays in a massive brand new football stadium whereas we have a more intimate soccer venue that should sell out. The only real big advantage they have that we don't are owners who are investing in players, coaches, and development academies because they want to win. ...

Anywho, that wan't my point. My point is, even if we had everything Atlanta has including investment and wins/trophies, when Tigres comes to Houston, it will always be a home game for them.

I can't describe why, but I don't feel a strong connection to the current crew. Clark, Holden, Ching, Ashe, Robinson, Davis, DeRo ... those were my guys. I wasn't just rooting for the shirt, I was specifically pulling for those individuals.

Maybe now it's just exceedingly clear that we're positioning ourselves as a sell-on club, which makes it tougher to buy in.

I dunno. I explained myself poorly. Eat at Arby's.

It's what any club that wants to grow has to do. It's not rocket science. Successful, ambitious clubs who do well on the field and off the field right consistently will take fans from other clubs.

It may be slow and over the course of many years but it happens. Some of those fans will slowly find themselves caring more about the Dynamo if the Dynamo are excelling in MLS and winning CCLs (which they won't but for the sake of argument, let's say they do). And the ones that don't switch will find that their kids will be more likely to grow up Dynamo fans then Tigres fans.

But it's a lot easier said than done. Sustained excellence from top to bottom requires an Atlanta like commitment for years and some luck.

Outside of location (where Houston already has freakin' millions of people) why couldn't that translate?

I'd actually say you've pointed out the exact issues with the organization, we're consistently bottom of the league in payroll (and embarrassingly so with several teams at 3-4x of the Dynamo's payroll) and management has shown nothing that indicates that will be changing.

I'm not necessarily we'd get 30k per game, and I agree with others that certain clubs will always have a built in fanbase in Houston, but the club could be doing a hell of a lot more and chooses not to.
