I'm typically really slow to bail on coaches - I like to give them a chance to implement their system fully. That said, I'm out on Berhalter. Zero reason to think he gets this thing turned around.

Where is the fight? Where is the attitude?

Mckinney talks a lot of smack but doesn't back it up against decent competition.

I really miss dempsey and donovan. I miss guys loke bocanegra(sp?)

Id build a team around beasley before anyone else playing tonight.

We need a real manager who will select our real best roster and play our real best players in their real best positions. Pick the best XI, play a 4-3-3 and tell the boys to go play. It's not that difficult. We have so many better players than the ones that are consistently being selected. But berhalter will not get fired because he supports the MLS agenda.

If a 2-0 loss to an obviously motivated and improving Canadian team is in your top 2 worst losses you're being hyperbolic or are new to US soccer, imo.

The loss is discouraging for sure. I'm waiting for these youngsters to play more energy and up their hype. There was absolutely no urgency or movement off the ball during the last 15-20 minutes. Its like. They looked like a bunch of 5-star recruits getting outplayed by motivated and energized 3 and 4-stars.

A 2-0 loss to a team which you haven't lost to in 35 years and one that hadnt even scored on you in a long long time.

A 2-0 loss after being run out of the stadium twice by your main rival (who itself is only slightly above average).

A 2-0 loss after not making the wc because you couldnt get a result vs Trinidad. Trinidad.

A 2-0 loss that is plenty of evidence we have made zero progress (and probably regressed) since said defeat vs t&t.

A 2-0 loss that might help the team not qualify to take part in the qualifying hexagon


Spare me. This is an awful loss and easily in the top 5 losses all time and squarely in the discussion for #2.

You keep waiting on the team to magically play with more energy, knowledge and skill. See you in 2026.

My $0.02... a MNT manager should not be implementing his system. A MNT manager should be implementing a system that best fits the best players in his pool. This is a different beast than a pro club. I club manager can buy the players that fit his scheme but a NT manager has to deal with the players in his pool. Specifically for a pool like the US you are limited with the quality of players at certain positions. If a manager is incapable of scheming around those deficiencies, he has no business being a NT manager.

US soccer is broken.

I can handle a loss, and Canada is improving, had more to play for tonight, and the format of this tournament is ******ed, we have zero to play for.

But if you put that US jersey on, then you damn well better show up to play. Tonight was an embarrassment effort wise.

And to date, our new coach has shown zero. I am honestly waiting for some of the bigger names to find reasons not to come to camps in the future.

Spare me the history and records for the last 20 years or whatever. What matters is the current results on the field and the players simply aren't getting it done. When they start winning 50-50 balls, making decent crosses and having a good first touch feel free to get back to me because if these are guys CB has to chose from we are in dire straits. Canada is obviously getting better and has athleticism to spare as does much of CONCACAF but it seems US soccer is more worried about tatics and finding a style of play.

I'm the same way, and I'm totally with you. This isn't not getting it done, this is regressing. I'd take JK in a heartbeat over what we've got right now.

This has been questionable from the start when we took a year to hire the guy we all expected it was going to be anyway. And when we didn't even attempt to pursue Tata.

Why the **** are we still playing Roldan, he doesnt have it. Why is Lovitz getting minutes, he doesnt have it. WHy does Trapp get selected, he doesnt have it. WHy is Zardes there, he doesnt have it. Why is Ream playing, he doesnt have it. Why are we being so stubborn to try to only play one style, build it from the back and low pressure defense. That doesnt play to the strengths of our player pool. We can have build it from the back be ONE way we play, but if the other team sells out to stop it, you CAN play direct. Start selecting our young players that ARE ALREADY better than these upper 20s and 30 year olds. They CAN play with the ball at their feet with confidence, they CAN read the game as its happening and move off the ball. They CAN press strategically and turn the ball over. I'm also tired of acting like the National Team sucks. It doesnt, the players they are choosing arent good enough, and they cant do the tactics Berrhalter wants. Its possible what he is trying to do would work with better players, but its also on him to realize its NOT working. Change something to make it work.

The youngsters arent on the field, only Mckennie and Sargent were, and they DID play with energy and played well. Don't get all your opinions from a pbp announcer with an agenda decided before the game is even played. And Twellman isnt much better.

The team is a reflection of the coach. Berhalter has zero energy, looks and sounds lost in interviews, and seems insistent on doing it his way. He should be terminated immediately.

I know its easy to just listen to what the announcers say (what they decided before the game started). He was personally involved in the build up to most of the chances we created. Good hold up play, and one-two touch passing to combine with others. The tactics are just fundamentally flawed when combined with player selection. When your midfield and defense are just overrun and outplayed, there isn't much the forward can do especially in a single striker formation.

I dont recall Sargent being involved in any signification buildup. He was mostly stuffed. I thought Morris looked better but only when he was connecting with Yedlin*. At least during the first half Yedlin was driving down the wing with pace and creating half chances. My problem is that after an uninspired first half, neither the players nor the tactics seemed to change. We never seemed to play wide and use our strengths but instead counterattacked through the middle only to be slowed down and often dispossessed.


*when low ceiling players like Morris and Yedlin are creating the best chances thats not only a coaching but also a player pool issue
