I like this deal if we can find a suitable replacement. He needs minutes and I think he can still be a good player that we either incorporate or sell on.

Philips doesn't strike me as a Pep #6. Not a good enough passer. I also seriously question if he hasn't just hit a major injury bug (1500 min in 21/22, 2500 min in 20/21, 3200+ min the prior 3 seasons). Feels like a HG quota move to me.

I think this is what we are looking at. Moving Saka deeper seems like a waste.

As of right now, no. Martinelli is in better form right now. ESR has more versatility (W & AM) but more importantly he has to show he can stay healthy. His little knocks are what opened the window for Martinelli to shine.

I think Saka could be really good in a deeper role if he wanted to. My main draw at the moment is the amount of firepower, speed & creativity that lineup would bring.

Sure, but he was one of if not our best players in the first half of the season so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

It doesn't seem like we are going to be short on young attacking talent though

Hopefully Arteta is learning about better rotation. With the number of comps this season, a world cup, the number of games guys like Saka have played in the last year, the continuous knocks to Partey & Tierney and the amount of young talent we have/are accumulating we need to make sure we are spreading minutes around effectively.

I'm pumped for this signing but I haven't watched him play enough to really have a feel for whether or not this has huge potential for us. Is this potentially going to make our attack far more effective or is this another Lacazette?

It's going to be a good signing. We saw what an average striker can do on this team and I have to think it gets considerably more effective with one of GJ's ability.
