Cant help but wonder if he actually wanted 14 or if that was his backup option because 9 has already been promised to Jesus.
I hope I live to eat crow on this but he seemed to be part of the problem last season. He isn't terrible but if we are ever hoping to compete with the 4 above us we need consistency.
I agree he was very inconsistent when he was in and out of the lineup and unhappy, but when he got that extended run in the team at the end I thought he was fairly consistent.
He's not a world beater but I think he would be a good option for Europa League, especially the early stages.

Martinez used to play #6 as well. Statbomb put out a comparison between he and Fernandinho a couple years ago and they were very comparable. Maybe he is Arteta's Swiss Army Knife.

Lot of talk about Raphinha this morning including a price tag above 50-60m. I know he is really good, but spending that money on a position where we already have our best player in Saka seems incredibly reckless. Sure you could run a front 3 of Raphinha - Jesus - Saka, but in reality ESR and Martinelli had better output than Raphinha last year.
If his price tag really is that high, I'd rather invest that money elsewhere
