How the hell do you loose track of a guy in the middle of the box like that?!?!?!?

That was ass right there. Just bad passing. Searching balls to no where. oof.

Pulisic ain't going to earn minutes with a performance like that.

Pulisic picked up the ball on the touch line and then had a 25 yard back pass and a 25 yard hopeful forward pass. There was hardly ever anyone in the middle showing for the ball. So Pulisic tried to take on a more athletic defender knowing where the ball was going to go. Just terrible tactics.

Chelsea also close to signing Ajax (and Mexico) defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez

That's a good signing. They sure do need upgrade in that role over Jorginho, with Kante out another month at least.

Fabrizio Romano says that Chelsea is now looking at Denis Zakaria (Swiss defensive midfielder at Juve). I havent seen him mention Alvarez (but he indicates a rumored deal for PSV midfielder Sangare isn't happening). So Chelsea seem to be going after several defensive midfielders, but no official success in landing one.

Chelsea to sign Zakaria, loan with an option to buy from Juve.

Looks like its back to three center backs with Fofana in the team. Jorginho, Mount, Havertz all get a rest or benched. Presumably the attacking trio is Pulisic, Gallagher, Sterling as surely, Tuchel isnt playing Gallagher as a central midfield pivot again

Wow.

- Ziyech was horrible. Bad passes, even worse strikes. Even the announcers were calling him out.
- Koulibally making hot headed and stupic plays on defense.
- Their goal was a good counter but misplayed by BOTH center backs.
- Chilwell taken out even though he was one of the only ones creating.
- We tried to be too damn cute. To many passes in the box, trying to thread the needle when we can't even make simple passes. Just make it simple and put balls on FRAME! Make the goalie work!
- How the hell do you let Ziyech take that second free kick???? Or even the first for that matter. Mount and James just standing there as Ziyech launches yet another one straight into the wall.

We are not getting out of the group stage.

Ziyech might not play another game for Chelsea again. It's not that he was bad. It's that he was bad and appeared to absolutely not care. That half assed, no chance in hell follow-up after his first free kick was hilarious. And then visibly talking his way into the second free kick as James eyerolled the hell out of him was nearly as hilarious.

I don't think I've seen a player so mentally absent before.

Damn Pulisic's ****ty attitude is causing the whole team to suck!

Too many new players! It will take all fall for them to fit in. Sooner Pulisic leaves the better.

He could have played for the Croatian team!

Lolz. He was a disaster. Spent all that money and they look like they haven't a clue on the pitch.

While true this year, he finished in top 4 both of his years here and won the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup. Damn! A hell of a lot of clubs would love that disaster. This sport is brutal. I figured he had more rope than this.

Any names floating around? Does Boehly want Jesse Marsch? Lol

This sure feels like a RA move?! Did he really sell the club?!

(Genuine Solari face for sure)

It is brutal. They've looked bad this season. Maybe he lost the players or something.

Pochetinno was fired a few months after CL final a few years back with Spurs.

Definitely quicker to sack someone than in the US.

Can't lose a locker room that expensive and expect to get retained. Also read the new ownership group wanted him to assist with bringing players in and he just wanted to coach.

This was an interesting read:

That's interesting because it seems like recently on some thread someone compared Tuchel to Bill O'Brien with the Texans as an example of why it isn't good to have a coach too involved in the GM side of things. That thread makes it sound like Tuchel in fact didn't want that role. He just wanted to coach. Makes me put more blame on the new ownership that Tuchel. Like Tuchel was just "Leave me alone and let me coach" and they kept annoying him with hours long calls every day.

It also says Tuchel didn't handle the transition well, but at least publicly I felt he did an amazing job at an incredibly difficult time with the sanctions and sale. He was very classy and led by example.

It also doesn't make sense to me to ask him to make player transfer decisions and then give him only 6 games with those new players. We'll see but I felt he deserved a little more time than he got. Glad we had him while we did and got the trophies though.

I'd think Pochettino would be fairly realistic.

Graham Potter from Brighton is their first choice. Honestly, he would be an incredible hire. He could be scary good there. He's also the most likely successor to Southgate should England disappoint at the WC.

Yes, Chelsea had no plan with a new owner. Tuchel has never been a "manager" he has been a "head coach" always. Boehly and Tuchel being the general management team is what has been a disaster. A rich guy that knows nothing, and a coach that isnt good at, doesnt even want that responsibility. And so you get this window.

I guess it's time to go back and see what I said about Tuchel in the beginning to see if I should be embrassed or not...

I think TT is a coach that can come in and make an immediate impact.

The longer he stays the more his players tune him out.

Look for Chelsea to bring in a players manager.

I like Tuchel

I never really would have expected Chelsea to hire someone like Tuchel. First he's kind of a build through youth, player development type character, rather than the typical continental tactical buy all the missing pieces and put them together type.

He also is one who ends up making enemies and getting into feuds over the way the club is run, so we might have that to look forward to, and an even shorter stint in charge rather than a long one. He gets fired, but he generally doesnt get fired for bad results.

Not too bad....I still like him, and I think the Russian war unfortunately maybe has been the real cause of this breakdown. I think Tuchel coaching and Marina and Roman running the club would have continued good results provided Tuchel stayed happy. However, maybe friction with the players inevitably is part of this too and would have happened regardless? Still when we hired him we were staring at a second recent season outside of the Champions league places and after hiring him, two top 4 finishes and a Champions League title.
