It is very impressive. They out worked France at the start of their match and with the early goal where really high on themselves; very gutsy to suck all their air back in and rebound the next two matches.

I have no clue why that's a not a goal.

That goal was disallowed based on a new interpretation/clarification that came out a couple of months ago. The defender didnt play the ball and control it. I he headed it but hes not heading it under control so its considered a form of a deflection and it went to a player in an offside position last having been played by his teammate.

3 months ago this was a good goal. Now, its not.

Which is more difficult to decide, a catch in college football / NFL or offside + handball in soccer?

Well when they're changing the definition of a word that is in the laws of the game, that's important to have. So when I'm leaning I can look at the laws of the game and interpret it.

Oh well. Sucks being someone that doesn't matter.

The people that really need to take referee classes the most are the announcers. I didn't see that game (so maybe that was mentioned in the broadcast but by the posts here it doesn't seem like it probably was or at least wasn't explained well). The announcers should be able to point out that there was a pretty big rule change a couple month ago that changed how the rule is applied in these situations. General fans shouldn't have to be going to referee classes, websites or even TexAgs to learn there was a pretty major change to the rules interpretation that happened in the last few months. The broadcast should be able to cover that sufficiently.
