Wow. Sad to hear.
We throw around the word "brave" way too much in today's culture, but wearing a rainbow flag in Qatar was certainly very brave. Idiotic, but brave.
When in the USA you are under the protection of OUR constitution. When in Russia/ Qatar/ etc you are under the laws of that country
Yes, that is an overstatement. It's a sad situation, but don't act like this is going to change anything in regards to US soccer…oragator said:
it isn't an overstatement to say that this is a massive loss for US soccer

I wonder how many vax/boosters he had chosen to put in his body.
Y'all can keep laughing and saying f16, but more and more people (we'll hear about the famous), will be dying of heart related issues in the near future.
It's a sad situation all around, no silver lining on this story…
Edit to add: The fact that so many on here think it's some type of geopolitical, shadow murder as opposed to a heart issue caused by the vax is ridiculous. But sure, y'all go on saying I'm the conspiracy theorist…
An article the day before is better timing than having been sick for days? Sick to the point of visiting a doctor? Whatever…akm91 said:
It could be due to the boosters as he and his wife had been vocal about the vaccine. However, he also put out a story critical of the government with regards to deaths of migrant workers the day before so that adds to the intrigue.

In NYC now. Can update that Grant did go to hospital in an ambulance. Colleagues followed in an Uber. There was no available AED onsite, though it sounds as though it wouldn't have made a difference, if my understanding of the medical situation is correct. G comes home tomorrow.

People go to the doctors all the time after being sick for days but don't die from it. We dont' know if his writings contributed to any possible foul play nor do we know if the vaccine and boosters played a part in his death. There isn't enough information to say either way but neither should be discounted out of hand.aggiephoenix02 said:An article the day before is better timing than having been sick for days? Al Kass TV photojournalist Khalid al-Misslam passed away recently.

Al- Misslam, a Qatari, died suddenly while covering the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. We believe in Allah's mercy and forgiveness for him, and send our deepest condolences to his family. pic.twitter.com/M1ZyoBJWkW
The family will release a statement as to cause of death soon. I no longer suspect foul play. It was not PE. https://t.co/OKRV6XEvgL

Breaking news: Prominent soccer writer Grant Wahl’s cause of death at the World Cup last week was an aortic aneurysm, his wife says https://t.co/7KPZs1fda2
— The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) December 14, 2022
Quote:
An autopsy was performed by the New York City Medical Examiner's Office. Grant died from the rupture of a slowly growing, undetected ascending aortic aneurysm with hemopericardium. The chest pressure he experienced shortly before his death may have represented the initial symptoms. No amount of CPR or shocks would have saved him. His death was unrelated to COVID. His death was unrelated to vaccination status. There was nothing nefarious about his death.

IDK, I'm going to cut him some slack. He made the video immediately after learning his brother had died suddenly in a foreign country days after having a run-in with security forces because he was wearing a pride shirt (at least partly to show solidarity with him). He was probably all over the place emotionally and deserves a bit of grace. And he also already publicly apologized.
EDIT - But do what you want.
I agree with jeffk. Having gone through what his brother did, I understand lashing out and wanting answers. Lashing out on social media was a bit much, but I too will cut him some slack for his emotional response.Furlock Bones said:jeffk said:

I understand exactly what happened. It just felt super performative.
