I can't justify these prices for a family of 5. Even category 3 tickets for Cape Verde and SA are 140 a piece.

Is that the deal, you can only put into the draw for one game per day for this go 'round? I put in for (4) for game 1 in Houston, expecting to be able to select/try for more in Houston, but looks like it's only allowing one?!?!

PS…One per day is probably in the fine print somewhere, but I just clicked on all the "Agree" boxes, to move through the process a little quicker. I'm sure I "Agreed" to charge my card for the purchase of some leftover Shipping Containers from the Qatar Stadium breakdowns, if I don't get drawn for tickets, but oh well, cool memorabilia I guess

It kind of sucks though because if I didn't get selected for US in LA, I can't go to the Dallas game. You should be able to put in for the home team then if you don't get in defer your entry to your local city.

When I go back to my account, the only option I see is to cancel my tickets. I'm guessing if I do I could go back and make a new entry.

I think I am going to road trip it to Kansas City.

Yes. I canceled at least once, and started over, once I had a feel for how it all worked..

Man, I have no idea if I'll be lucky to get any, or if I'm gonna end up with more than I know what to do with. I guess I can always resale if too many!

This 48 team thing almost ruins the group stage. There are WAY too many crappy games. Maybe it will help drive some prices down but probably not for games people will actually want to attend.

The European soccer fan is collectively WAY more powerful than the American sport fan has ever been collectively. Remember they rebelled successfully against the Superleague. That is one reason why I think the US might never get the World Cup again.
And the biggest complainers are the Germans. Football in Germany seems to exist WAY beyond the winning the losing. The clubs exist as some kind of community organizing units. They'd rather LOSE and be fan owned that privately owned and win. For example, In America (and abroad generally) Bayer Leverkusen is seen as as incredible story of smarts and determination overcoming Bayern Munich's looming shadow. In Germany Leverkusen is a hated "plastic" cheating privately owned club playing by a different set of rules. OF COURSE they should be winning. Aspirin is literally paying salaries there; NOT the people of village of Leverkusen. Remember that Bayern Munich would've been FAR below their peers (Real Madrid, United, Inter) in terms of money by NOT joining the SuperLeague, but they didn't even DARE try to join it. It wasn't even a thought.
We ACCEPT that money is the POINT of sports here. Franchises were created and EXIST to make money; clubs came up much more organically. We're going to find out just how powerful the euro football fans are.

I believe I paid $50 per ticket, for each of the Dallas matches in '94. Don't recall if we did it over the phone (landline), or via snail mail. I "think" we were awarded through the mail-in application, and paid over the phone via credit card.

The highlight (for me), amongst the many international stars, was running into Schelles Hyndman at the first game (legendary SMU Men's Soccer Coach), who called me by name, invited me on a Recruiting Visit later while in Dallas that Summer, who had only lightly been recruiting me at the time, prior to that interaction in the stands ('94 being my Junior year in HS).

The low-light, reading in the Dallas Morning news, that Maradona was suspended for the rest of the tournament for "Allergy Medicine," just before he was to play there at the Cotton Bowl.

Needless to say, the U.S. 1994 World Cup helped to ignite, or continue to fuel, my passion for the Beautiful Game!

What does "most loyal fans" mean and how is that determined?

I think this is people buying through their federation's allocation so they could sit in a dedicated block.

And most federations have a points-based lottery, so the people who actually attend games are deemed loyal (and therefore aren't likely to scalp these).

It's been forever since I looked, but I know for USSF it was a combo of donations and attendance that gave someone the best chance to get a USSF-block ticket.

Maybe if they bought WC tickets for their team in the last WC?

I think the article you linked last week hit on it. It's people in National Supporters Clubs. I think they get a code to use to purchase on the FIFA site (based on criteria above, I think). 4000 per nation (per nation's game, I assume).

I haven't seen anything from US Soccer. Are they still distributing an allocation of tickets??

Also saw FIFA agreed to waive the administrative fees it was going to charge fans who get post-tournament refunds of their Team Specific Tickets for eliminated teams.

I bought tickets to 1 game back in October and my plan is to see if last minute tickets drop in price from scalpers simply trying to make anything back.

Go to the FIFA website again because there's another open round of applications right now. You get to apply to specific games and they basically have a lottery/draw for each game.

Any work arounds on the FIFA site for trying to get more than 4 tickets to a single game?

Apparently FIFA is gonna be charging for entrance into fan zones as well for the first time.

Just trying to squeeze everything they can out of the US
