Forest claim another point, Spurs do not. This is starting to look pretty serious for the Spurs…
Leeds will try and put distance between themselves and Tottenham tomorrow when they travel to Old Trafford.

Well if you were a Spurs fan I don't believe the weekend could have gone much worse for you. The other three clubs hovering around relegation all picked up points and you did not. Spurs now sit in 18th place, and are in dire need of points. I saw someone say they looked better in losing this weekend, well its past the point where style of play matters a lick. You get to mid April and you are in the relegation fight well then its all about collecting points, doesn't matter how, just get points. Spurs have not won since December in the EPL, so any points will do at this stage.

Weekend Results:

West Ham 4-0 Wolves. West Ham United climbed out of the botto three as Valentin Castellanos and Konstantinos Mavropanos both scored twice in a 4-0 rout of Wolverhampton Wanderers. Mavropanos met Jarrod Bowen's cross with a towering header to put the Hammers ahead late in the first half, Two Castellanos goals in less than two minutes after the hour mark doomed Wolves. Mavropanos joined Castellanos in securing his brace with an acrobatic volley seven minutes from time, as the Hammers boosted both their points tally and their goal difference. The result lifts West Ham up to 17th with Tottenham Hotspur replacing them in the bottom three, while Wolves remain bottom and could be relegated as early as next weekend if they lose to Leeds United.

Burnley 0-2 Brighton. Mats Wieffer's brace boosted Brighton & Hove Albion's European ambitions as they claimed a 2-0 win over Burnley. The ninth-placed Seagulls are now just one point away from seventh place, which is set to bring European qualification for next season. Saturday's win at Turf Moor marked the Gulls fifth win in their last six league matches. Burnley, meanwhile, find themselves 12 points from safety with six games of their season remaining. The Clarets could have their relegation confirmed next week, should results go against them. Jaidon Anthony and Bashir Humphreys both had goals ruled out in either half for Scott Parker's hosts, who were undone by beautiful piece of play by Brighton that was finished by Wieffer just before the break. The Brighton full-back sealed the win in the 89th minute with a brilliant side-footed effort that whistled past Martin Dubravka.

Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villa. Nottingham Forest claimed another vital point in the relegation battle after holding top-five hopefuls Aston Villa to a 1-1 draw. Forest suffered an early blow on Sunday when Murillo's own goal handed Villa a 23rd-minute lead, as the Brazilian inadvertently turned home a Morgan Rogers' cross.Neco Williams responded for Forest at the City Ground 15 minutes later, fizzing in a goal at the near post. Rogers and Ollie Watkins both wasted glorious chances in the second half to snatch victory for the Villans, who remain fourth. Forest are now unbeaten in four league games after this draw and moved up a place to 16th, three points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in 18th.

Sunderland 1-0 Tottenham. Roberto De Zerbi's first match in charge of Tottenham Hotspur ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Sunderland, a result that puts Spurs into the relegation zone. Nordi Mukiele's heavily-deflected strike in the 61st minute, which came off the foot of Micky van de Ven, was enough to settle a close encounter at the Stadium of Light. Granit Xhaka dragged an earlier effort wide and Brian Brobbey was thwarted one-on-one by Spurs' stand-in goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. Dominic Solanke had Spurs best opportunity on the stroke of half-time. Spurs drop to 18th on 30 points. The loss of captain Cristian Romero to injury during this defeat was a further blow.

Leeds United 2-1 Manchester United. Leeds United picked up a vital win in the relegation battle as they defeated 10-man Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford. Noah Okafor's first-half brace was enough to secure a crucial three points for Daniel Farke's side, moving them six clear of the bottom three and handing Man Utd head coach Michael Carrick his first home defeat since taking charge. Okafor opened the scoring in the fifth minute before getting his second just before the half-hour mark. Lisandro Martinez was then shown a straight red card in the second half for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin's hair, and though Casemiro's header made things nervy, Leeds were able to hold off a wave of pressure from the hosts in the closing stages for their first league victory at Old Trafford since 1981. Leeds remain in 15th spot after an important win in their battle to avoid relegation.

And Opta numbers say it's basically a coin flip for them now. Leeds is very nearly out of the woods.

Opta relegation chances:
Leeds: 1.6%
Forest: 10.1%
West Ham: 38.8%
Spurs: 49.5%

Absolutely LOVE seeing Spurs at 18 in the relegation zone. Every Arsenal fans' wet dream would be Spurs getting relegated the same season Arsenal wins the Premier League title.

I don't think I like you anymore.

I'm not afraid to claim it. You shouldn't be either.

Another lively weekend of relegation matches, couple of 6 pointers that could officially end the chances of Burnley and Wolves, while Tottenham look to right their ship and find a way out of the bottom three.

16. Nottingham Forest. 32 33

Weekend Key Relegation Matches

Saturday, April 18
Leeds v. Wolves (9:00am, Elland Road, Peacock)Leeds will look to continue their recent good form (1-0-2 in their last three) and pull themselves out of the relegation battle, while also making Wolves fate official. Wolves are 2-2-1 for 7 points from their last five, but it has been a case of too little too late. Leeds claimed all three points at the Molineux when the sides met in September with a 3-1 win. Another win like that would do a lot to guarantee safety for the Whites.
Tottenham v. Brighton (11:30am, Hotspur Stadium, NBC)The trainwreck that is the 25-26 Tottenham Hotspur season carries on Saturday, when the Spurs welcome Brighton to North London. Spurs have not won a home PL match since December 6, that's over four months ago! Brighton meanwhile are the hottest team in the PL, having won their last 3 matches and 5 of their last 6. The two clubs drew 2-2 earlier in the season at the Amex, and honestly that might be a result Spurs would be willing to take in this one.

Sunday, April 19
Nottingham Forest v. Burnley (8:00am, City Ground, Peacock)Like Leeds, Forest are looking to claim three points, secure regulation for an opponent, and, more importantly, pull themselves further from the relegation battle. Forest currently are three points ahead of Tottenham, so they definitely need to claim three points at home from a club who is assuredly going to be relegated. Forest are undefeated in their last four (1-0-3) while Burnley have only claimed one point from their last 5 (0-4-1). The clubs drew 1-1 at Turf Moor earlier in the season, a result that neither should be thrilled with this weekend.

Monday, April 20
Crystal Palace v. West Ham (2:00pm, USA Network, Selhurst Park)West Ham make the short trip to South London to face Palace, looking to increase their lead on 18th pace Tottenham. Palace are flying high after achieving the semifinals of the Conference League this last week, so might be a good opportunity for the Hammers to come in and claim three points. Palace have been playing well in the EPL as well, going 3-1-1 over their last five. West Ham have gone better as late as well, going 2-2-1 in their last 5. Should be a rowdy crowd for a Monday night at Selhurst, wonderful way to end the weekend.

Have a great weekend!

I just can't see how the math works out for Spurs at this stage. Leeds and Forest likely to gain 3 points. Seems like both of those will be safe leaving only West Ham and their form since Jan 1 has been really decent.

Where are Spurs going to get points from? Maybe Wolves, maybe Leeds. Probably not from Everton, BHA tomorrow, definitely not Chelsea or Villa. And that's it.

Not seeing it.

Isn't 40 considered the magic number.

They need three wins and a draw. Beat BHA, Wolves, and Leeds and tie Everton.

Not saying that they are going to do it, especially winning this weekend. But it's doable at least. I think a win this weekend is an absolutely necessary.

Speaking of the Championship promotion contenders, it's an incredibly tight race for the second spot… Ipswich and Millwall tied at 76 points and Southampton right behind at 75 (and Middlesbrough at 73).

Southampton is on a 7 game win streak and hasn't lost since January. I think they'll pull it off and go back up… there's just something about the way they're playing right now.

I don't think they'll do it, but can you imagine Millwall returning to EPL - especially if West Ham and Leeds also stay up?

I'm not overly happy with either Spurs or West Ham going down. I like both fixtures. I hope whomever goes down bounces back up, to be honest.

I won't be truly happy unless the relegated team goes down to League 1.

Speaking of which, Leicester is going down to league 1. That's a total shame. They had such a great team there for years.

Wednesday is still in the negative points I see. Great stadium. **** team.

I was able to catch their game yesterday against BHA...They just don't look good. No real aggression towards the goal and no real clue what they want to do when they get close.

We have two matches today involving relegation teams, one looking to get out of the relegation battle and the other that is looking to confirm their relegation:

Bournemouth v. Leeds United (2pm, Vitality Stadium, Peacock). Leeds are seeking to move out of the relegation battle completely, but i won't be easy against an in form Bournemouth club down on the South Coast. Leeds have won their last two EPL matches, and have not lost any of their previous four. The Cherries meanwhile are on a thirteen game undefeated streak, with their last EPL loss coming on January 3. A point would make the Whites happy today, and would get them to the coveted 40 point mark.

Burnley v. Manchester City (2pm, Turf Moor, USA Network). Manchester City will make the short trip north to Burnley today looking for three points and the chance to level first place Arsenal on points. Burnley are meanwhile relegated to the role of spoiler, as their demotion is all but assured, and a loss today would guarantee their place in the Championship for next season. City enter the match in their normal spring form, having gone undefeated in their last 10 EPL matches, while Burnley have only claimed one point from their last five matches. Burnley must win all remaining matches and have West Ham drop all their matches to avoid relegation, so good luck to the Clarets.

Enjoy the Soccer.

Bournemouth - Leeds 2nd half was wild and Leeds grabbed that critical point to reach magic number 40.

Game also featured a rare assist from Tyler Adams with a nice cross into the box from the right side after reading the defense well and getting himself wide open to receive the hockey assist.

If we can keep Leeds up and drop Spurs, this will have been a wonderful season.

Draw for Leeds in a wildly entertaining match on the South Coast, gets the Whites to the 40 point mark. While they are not mathematically safe they are all but safe, leading Spurs by 9 points who have 5 matches remaining.

Loss for Burnley in a hard fought match with City officially relegates the Clarets, putting their supporters out of their misery.
