we played well against Germany, but they must have had a hell of a week in training in finding some much needed chemistry. And, to think how many near perfect passes we had that were just barely mistimed, or just a touch too much. This game could have honestly been 8-1. We played that well.

I did a bunch of simulations the other day and I just asked google AI to check the work.

Winning the group would likely give us a great round of 32 matchup; probably a third place finisher. However, we'd most likely have to face group E winner in round of 16 next, probably Germany. Or possibly group I, probably France.

Finishing 2nd in the group would probably put us against group G runner up, Belgium or Egypt most likely, in the round of 32. Round of 16 would likely be a group winner Argentina, Uruguay, or Belgium.


I wouldn't want to face France or Spain, the two biggest tournament favorites, sooner. So if winning group D means you for sure face France in the round of 16, you might think we'd prefer second in group. But it's not guaranteed to face France and I'd rather have an easier round of 32 to keep building.

It's silly. But I hope you got that **** cleaned up.

Point differentials other than one are as meaningless as faked fouls. I was DELIGHTED by the reversal due to VAR concluding there was a misidentification on the yellow card by the way.

Game was fun. Hated in-game celeb shots, but I did feel some pride seeing Tom Cruise patriotically sing the Star Spangled Banner when they panned to him at the beginning.

He almost definitely has a place in LA. Played there for years and married to Victoria, they definitely have a permanent place there

Not to mention owning Inter Miami. He's here all the time.

Lord knows why he's everywhere all of a sudden, but he's making a publicity push for some reason. He hosted a Champions League watch party on CBS/Paramount for the semis and final. I tried watching but for the short period I watched they were just chatting about Godknowswhat instead of actually watching the game so I bailed back to the normal broadcast.

I watch Telemundo just for the fact that Andres Cantor is way better than anyone at Fox (Ian Darke is up there). Don't remember this happening though.

I've gotten way better with my Spanish over the years just thru this.

***Figured out why I don't remember this. Its from the Azteca broadcast, not Telemundo.

Didn't get to watch live but caught up last night and this morning. Can't ask for a much better team performance than that.

Couple thoughts...

- Dest and Jedi make a massive difference on this team, they both had great matches and kept the Paraguay defense off balance all night.

- Richards was borderline flawless.

- McKennie won't get as much recognition but he put in a great shift, was very good on the ball and defended well.

- The Reyna goal...damn.

- The goal allowed exposed our backline, still feels like right back is our weak point when we've got Dest playing more forward. Better teams are going to expose that so I hope we adjust.
