We have less than two months until our first soccer match of the year at the ASS against Dartmouth (8/31 @ 6PM). We have a new crop of fish that need to be taught how to behave at the games. Post what you consider to be traditions or proper etiquette at Aggie Soccer games.

1) We yell on offense. (Even the new yell boys get messed up on this one)
2) Everyone can go down for bootline.
3) Skyrocket for our keeper ONLY.

Make opposing goalie cry?

Think hard for some sort of bad a chants we can do is what we need to tell them to do, cause we need a little international flare at our games.

4) No cussing... there are kids at the game.

I do agree with getting into the other goalie though. Particularly those who sit behind the goal.

No one said there was anything clever about yelling the goalies name it's just a way to get into their head.

and I was just trying to say we need some chants to do like people in other countries do.

7. Continually destroy the SOUL of SMU whenever near.

I believe I have seen us play SMU twice and each time we made at least 3 players on their team cry by the end of the game. One game this chick named Susan cried while walking into the lockerroom at half time. This team is full of stupid stuck up *****es.

10. If somebody's Aggie Soccer Hooligan shirt has faded from maroon to pink, it's a sign of seniority. Respect them, they've earned that faded shirt through years of dedication.

As another suggestion re: singing, it's generally good to limit the number of complicated songs. If most of your songs use recognizable or catchy tunes and not a lot of words, then they're easier to learn and remember and easier for them to spread.

We tried organizing this last year. Even had the backing of Suze. Nothing ever happened. The yell boys were worthless and dropped the ball...

It's hard to make these ideas into a reality unless someone actually organizes something and puts it into action.

The best songs are the ones you can start and lots of people can immediately sing along without ever having even heard the song before.

One of my favorites that I hear from time to time is "You came a long way, just to lose." sung to the tune of He's Got the Whole World in His Hands, once it becomes clear that your team is going to win.

I approve of that one.

Easy and recognizable

We just need to do SOMETHING chant/song-wise this year. Anything! Start with something very very simple to a tune that everyone knows.... those of us on here just need to know what it is so that when someone starts it there will be at least a few of us singing it. Then we'll do the same thing again the next game, and the next game and people will pick it up and once they do we can add another one. But we don't need to start with 5 songs the first game or anything complicated or even that original. Just get people singing.

The other chants mentioned, I like and would help spread.

Well the main reason I mentioned something with the Ole's in it is just because it would be easy to start and keep going. Everyone's familiar with the sound of it, so it could be a good stepping stone to more complex and in-depth stuff down the road. It doesn't have to be Morning Train or Blue Moon to be effective at the beginning. Like redd said, just to get people singing.

It's a good place to start like after we score or whatever everyone could jump around to that one, I'm not opposed. We can't be too picky anyway we just need to get anything new started.

i like the ole too but maybe add second texas aggies at the end. o-lay!, ole, ole, o-lay!, texas aggies!, texas aggies!.

Well if you listen to the way the Ole chant is usually done, it cycles through only six oles (ole, ole ole ole, ole, ole). If you were at the Dynamo game in College Station earlier this year you may remember the Puntarenas fans chanted "Ole, ole ole ole, Ri-cos, Ri-cos" and then repeated. So adding another Texas Aggies would kind of throw off the cadence.

They were actually saying "Ticos" not "Ricos". Tico is another name for someone from Costa Rica. But that really has nothing to do with this thread so carry on.

I like the Ole chant cause it's pro-Aggie and not anti-opponent. It's simple and very soccer-ish. It gets my vote.
