For someone so worried about me "taking it to the extreme," you did just that. It's pretty obvious I didn't say to eliminate Aggie Traditions. I said Keep things specifically Olsen at Olsen, keep things unique at Soccer.

I might be able to use aggie soccer in another way but I just looked at it as the big one and don't know if it will look as good. I'll just make a bunch of them, and post all of them.

normally when that is happening the ball is coming towards the goal and not on the other side of the field and thats why the goalie is retreating.

A large number of people watch the keeper and beep at any backwards step she makes. That's one thing that drives me crazy...

And jc, I think the legal trouble Sandy's referring to was selling merchandise with trademarks on them (ATM, etc). So if you're thinking about selling them, be careful not to use anything trademarked (hard to do for University merchandise) or be quiet when you're selling them (don't stand up front as the towel boys were)...

If it's for an university organization, they're a lot more lenient as well.

I wasn't going to sell them I was just gonna give designs to the athletic department and have them sell them I don't care about getting money for it.

I didn't think you were going for a profit, figured you wanted to pay for costs. But since you wont actually be making them, no problem there.

Anyone ever brought in a huge bass drum? Or some cowbells? Or some of those annoying spinning clacker things?

One of the things that makes sporting events like football, baseball and basketball games so much fun is how unique each experience is from the other. I have to agree with earlier posts that said bringing in Olsen traditions just dilutes the soccer atmosphere. If we're going to be unique, be unique...don't just copy other traditions.

I don't know the rules on noisemakers. The Hullabaloo Hooligans would bring their buckets to play drums on. Some games, the opposing coach would complain to the ref and he would make them put them away. Aggie Athletics seemed to believe that they were legal to have, but you would want to check this before bringing them.

Aggie Athletics has always been supportive of the fans. They got jerseys for the Hullabaloo Hooligans and Bill Byrne went to bat against the ISU softball coach with Cooper too!

So, summarizing:

We have "Ole, Texas Aggies"

and we have
Our Lovely Aggies (to the tune of "You are my Sunshine"

You are our Aggies,
Our lovely Aggies.
You make the sun shine,
When skies are grey.
And as for t.u., Don't want to be you.
So please don't take our Aggies away!!!

This actually would also work for OU, KU, NU, and a few others, but I leave that call for the veteran soccer fans here.

A or B sounds good, Aggie Soccer is also a good idea, although if it just said Texas Aggies or something you might could use it at more than just soccer games. Just a thought.

Good thinking, tailoring the song to the opponent. Kind of like when England plays Germany and they sing 'Stand Up If You Won The War'. Although we could keep it similar to the war hymn and use t.u. all the time. But I think changing it could work well.

Good ideas guys. I'm starting to think we're going to have a serious soccer-style atmosphere going come August 31.

You could easily just sing part of the Spirit too... There was a thread on this last year sometime, I can't remember what it was called.

I would love to have this type of atmosphere. I was excited last year as I said when Suzette was backing it. Unfortunately nothing ever became of that attempt. We need some students to form a serious plan to get this done.

You'll need to create a list of the songs and print them out to hand out to people at the games. You'll also need to organize singing these and lead the songs.

One thing at football games that makes me feel like i'm at an international is when the 12th man is sawing varsity's horns off and the band stops playing so it sounds like a chant/song...of course that is 70k people doing it and not 5K but still neat.

I've even been at volleyball games when that's happened and it is pretty awesome. I think doing the War Hymn occasionally during the match would be great, but it would be very, very easy to overdo. Does anyone have any more ideas for songs besides Ole and Lovely Aggies?

And at least one good bass drum. It's so much easier to keep everyone on rhythym and more people will hear it.

Okay, Beer Snob got me - I posted a long time ago about bodily harm if anything inappropriate was yelled toward my daughter. While there is a line that could be crossed that would raise enough ire in me to want to get physical, I've come to the realization that my daughter can take care of herself. Regardless, she loves the atmosphere at the Aggie Soccer Complex and is disappointed that the game will not be in College Station this year.

Bad take CDub. You been photographed many times over the years with a flag. Not just any flag either, a California flag.

(To be fair this was partly poking fun at another poster).
