This is the series i wanted. I love OKC, and i don't think they have the experience to beat the Lakers.

I don't see a first round upset happening here.

Oh, and Durant's gonna get too many FT's because he already gets the Jordan treatment (leads the NBA in free throw attempts per game)

Lakers in....6.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

quote:
"Because it's taking away from what I do," Durant said, according to The Oklahoman. "That's a part of my game, getting to the free-throw line and being aggressive. If you say that I get superstar calls or I get babied by the refs, that's just taking away from how I play. That's disrespectful to me.

"I don't disrespect nobody in this league," Durant said, according to the report. "I respect every coach, every player, everybody. I never say anything bad about anybody else or question why they do this or do that. So for them to say that about me, I don't even want to use no foul language."

I despise Phil more than any coach in the league. Keep your mouth shut, worry about your own team and get over yourself.

Thunder probably can't sustain it over 7 games, but this will be fun to see what they bring to the table. And the Lake-show could be 1 Gasol ankle twist away from becoming the 07 Mavs.

Jackson musing about ANYONE getting preferential treatment from officials is the height of irony.

My SWAG as to how this series goes...OKC gets a split in LA in the first two, Lakers return the favor and then win a tough game 6 in OKC. 4-2 LA.

I hope I'm wrong and that OKC channels Golden State '07 and wipes out the Lake Show.

The guy that has coached Jordan and Bryant is beeching about other people getting the "superstar treatment." That's comedic gold right there

question....when has kobe ever led the league in free throw attempts?

show me statistical proof that kobe gets preferential treatment.

also, durant is 21, plays for OKC, and hasn't earned squat. you really think he deserves more FTA than Howard, Kobe, Wade, Lebron, and possibly even Dirk?

check out how many FTA each of them got at 21. hint: it wasn't leading the league, and they werent playing in OKC.

it's not those guys fault they weigh over 230lbs.

who gives an eff about age. kobe is the biggest whiner in th eleague and gets calls esp during crunch time.

a laker fan complaining about another team getting calls is beyond funny.

a basketball fan who thinks the lakers have gotten any preferential treatment from the refs in the last 7-8 years is funny.

yes, against Sacramento, it was a ref job when Shaq was still in LA.

and no, fisher didn't foul brent barry in 2008 in SA, so get over it.

You mean the foul that the league looked back on and said "Yep. That should have been a foul." Was that the foul your talking about?

LOL @ this dummy

Phil is a genius. There was a reason he made those comments. They are already working as it has Durant worrying about that crap instead of focusing on the playoffs. Also, I'm sure the officials heard it as well. I bet there are several calls against Durant that don't get made in this series.

ItalAggie, no, i mean the good no call because Barry traveled on that play.

Pop agrees:
quote:
"It wasn't a foul. ... I think it was a proper no-call from what I saw," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said of Fisher bumping Barry.

thanks for playing

It amuses me that you always do your "thanks for playing" when you are wrong. It's almost like a defense mechanism for you. You truly believe that you are right when there is objective evidence that you are in fact wrong. Simplebay, I've actually come to respect you. God knows I probably wouldn't be posting anymore if I took all of the shots that you have on this board.

What am I saying? You're still a dumbass.

this poster said it best here:

quote:
a foul is a foul.

that was a foul.

that call is never given to brent barry 35 feet from the basket in pivotal game 4 of teh WCF. Can't rely on the refs to bail you out with that.

a foul is a foul, as long as a block is a block (Lamar Odom phantom goaltend), traveling is travelling (Barry's 2 pivot feet, never gonna be called in that situation as well), and hitting the rim is a reset of the shot clock (derek fisher doesn't get rim credit). their are lots of missed calls in the NBA, seeing as it may be the hardest sport to referee.

that wasn't why the Spurs lost the game. 13 laker offensive rebounds that translated into 26 2nd chance points is. I don't think i've ever seen a team convert EVERY SINGLE ONE of their offensive rebounds when there is that many. not sure about you stat gurus, but i've never heard of every offensive rebound a team gets being scored right back.

after listening to ESPN radio go on and on about the poooooooor Spurs with the "only" no call of the late-game, ESPN guy says that most of the mailbox of Spurs fans were saying the game was lost before that call. unlike a lot of the fans on here (ahem, guitarsoup).

the league is right, that's a 2 shot foul. but as Jeff Van Gundy said on tonight's Detroit game....the right call was made. The same calls are not awarded at the end of the game as they are in the beginning. Early fouls set the tone of the game. That Fisher foul is called in the 1st quarter, not in the 4th. It's always been that way, and the veteran Spurs knew it, which is why they never complained about it afterwards. They knew they weren't gonna get that call.

I think Ok. City is a great story, and as a Mavs fan I believe the thunder would have beaten the Mavs had we had them in the first round. They won't do so well against the lakers though. I don't see the thunder winning any more than one game...lakers in 5

so? he's a third year guy who has proven to be one of the top 5 players in the league

plays for OKC

so?

quote:
and hasn't earned squat

what does he have to earn? it's his THIRD YEAR, he's won a scoring title, and led a team to one of the biggest one year improvements in the history of the league. yeah, he's earned nothing

That's all for now. I'm not gonna waste time with you like everyone else on this board seems to do, because you will never agree or see eye to eye with anyone.

I'd be thrilled if OKC won, and I'd be happy with a 7 game series even, but I think it might be a stretch. The Thunder have played like crap the last 2 weeks of the season, and they've shown some serious flaws in a few of those games. We'll see what happens, should be fun around OKC this week that's for sure.

I would love for OKC to win, and honestly I think they are young and dumb enough to pull an upset. That team is so deep, and they're young enough to hang with L.A's aging team. No one will be able to contain Durant, much the same way no one will be able to contain Kobe on OKC's side.

Its going to be the best series of the opening round imo. I think it'll be like Orlando in the Finals though. OKC will be able to hang on will be close, but the Laker's experience is what will tip the scale in their favor.

ill take westbrook over farmar and fisher.
ill take durant over odom.

pau vs. anyone else okc has.

lakers have a monster called kobe.

bench is about even.

lakers win because of black mamba. ill give okc two games. lakers close it in six.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Okay Durant over Artest, Jeff Green and Odom are a push probably.

It's a given that Pao and Bynum are better than Kristic and Collison (although Ibaka has been playing better than both)

last season and this season bynum has played in 138 games, not including the upcoming playoff run.

Bynum has missed an average of 32 games (just shy of 40% ) per year over the last three years, with most if not all of those games coming in the second half of the season.

OKC hanging tough at half time.
Pahdz
How long do you want to ignore this user?
OKC getting destroyed in half court sets, and as I figured, the bigs are getting worked by Gasol and Bynum. Westbrook finally figured out LA doesn't have a PG that can guard him, and when LA does miss, OKC HAS TO push the ball quick and get transition baskets.

Promising finish to the half, but my hopes aren't up yet.

On a lighter note, does the Staples center have a live organ player? That's kickass.
