I love how blacks always hop on the bandwagon.

i am not a heat fan by any stretch of the imagination. I don't bandwagon. I support these four teams until i die: Rockets, Jets, Yankees, anything A&M

What'd I miss? The OP is right unless people believe the Heat only get 2 more losses this year, right? I'm a HUGE Spurs homer and I wouldn't even consider them breaking that record even with only 3 losses thus far.

Maybe you guys were teasing him because the Heat are on a tear now I guess and he was dogging them. In that case I suppose I agree. That is elite talent and it was just a matter of time until they worked it out.

I'm still here, Yankees. And I still say this team is not winning the championship. Hell, I don't even think they're going to the Finals. They're on a nice run at the moment, but there is a long way to go. They will get exposed by a good team in a long series.

I imagine that Miami will be amped up tonight as they look to avenge their most humiliating loss. If they lose, then they will face questions of if they can't beat ****ing Dallas then how can they compete with LA and Boston.

and of course we'll hear a lot about how Dallas hasn't lost at all to Miami in the regular season since like 2004 (/bitterness)

Dallas, at this time, is better than either of those teams.

In the regular season maybe. In the playoffs Dallas couldn't take either of those teams to game 7.

The OP was not "right.". First, he said that he was laughing at both the Heat and the people who predicted 72-10. Nevermind that nobody, so far as I know, predicted 72-10. And what does he have to laugh at the Heat about? The clear implication is that they aren't very good. But the Heat are obviously very good. So, the OP was very wrong.

``They will break the single-season win record [of 72],'' Jeff Van Gundy said. ``And I think they have a legit shot at the Lakers' 33-game [winning] streak [in 1971-72], as well. And only the Lakers have even a remote shot at beating them in a playoff series. They will never lose two games in a row this year.

http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-confidential/2010/08/jeff-van-gundy-predicts-heat-break-the-bulls-72-win-record.html

Van Gundy was the most vocal about it, but there were other. And all I referenced in the OP were those predictions. Later in the thread I posted this:
quote:
They will win plenty of games. Just nowhere near as many as a lot of "experts" predicted and just a few in the playoffs.

Obviously Whistling For Flies needs to pull his head out of his ass and do a better job of reading next time before calling someone out.

Got it. You found one person who predicted 72 wins, but apparently none of this board. And the one person you found, for whom you take the time out of your day to mock, is an former NBA coach. Congrats. You obviously know lots more about basketball than Jeff Van Gundy.

Really? And you think I should "pull my head out of my ass and do a better job reading? You might want to re-read the title of the thread.

and at all of the idiots that said they would beat the Bulls 72-10 record.

I can see how you missed it, though. It was just the title of the thread.

You said you hadn't heard of one person making that prediction, so I provided evidence of that with a 10 second Google search. And it's not some internet moron, it is an NBA analyst and former head coach. There were more, I just don't have the time to go search them out. Never once did I say it was anyone here. I honestly don't remember if anyone here said they would break the record, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone did.

Really. You linked a thread that said this...

quote:
To clarify, I don't think they will win 72 games. Neither does Van Gundy. He just said that they have a realistic shot of pulling it off.

You're a dumbass. Not a single person "predicted" 72 wins. Some of us said that they would be the best team in the NBA. Which they will be.

Van Gundy is a moron, I don't think before the season began anyone should have came out and said that. This was a team that never played with each other, one of there stars was banged up, not to mention that weak bench. That bulls team was established (not to mention they had Phil Jackson).

He most certainly did say they would win 72 games in the article I linked. Read the quote. Oh wait, that's too hard for you. You started a thread about Van Gundy saying they COULD win 73 games yet claimed to not know anyone saying they would win 72.
Ulrich
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Van Gundy has a tendency to get so excited about whatever he is talking about at the moment that he makes ridiculous assertions and predictions. A little Bill Waltonish in that regard. Probably if he had sat down and thought about it he wouldn't have said 73, but who knows. Still, plenty of people were picking the Heat to have a really dominant regular season and a deep run in the playoffs.

That's correct. He did. A more astute observer would read the rest of what he said and realize that he was exaggerating. His point was that the Heat would be good enough to have a good chance to win 72 games. Nonetheless, I'll grant you the van Gundy point. Congrats. You have managed to ridicule a prediction that a grand total on one person prognosticated

More to the point of my ridicule of your post, however, is that you said LOL @ Miami. What exactly do we have to laugh at Miami about? Being a really, really good basketball team?

I thought I explained what I was laughing at in the original post. And as I said elsewhere on this thread, they will win plenty of games. But they aren't setting any records or winning a championship.

Where are Whistling For Flies, Dr Pepper, and Yankees now that Miami has lost 3 in a row? Go ahead and use injuries as an excuse. It's not like other teams (cough, Bulls, cough) haven't experienced even worse injuries issues.

(For the record, the Heat are a game and a half in front of Chicago right now.)

And to go back to this statement, any intelligent basketball mind should have been able to tell that despite 2 great players and 1 really good player Miami would struggle due to the lack of a center or point guard. In addition, any kind of injury issues to the big 2 1/2 leaves them marginally better than average.

Losing lebron and or Wade/bosh is worse than any player the bulls have or will lose this season. I'm no heat fan, but when they were healthy, they went 21-1

They are playing without Boozer and Noah right now. I agree that Wade & LBJ are the best out of that group, but Boozer is comparable to Bosh and Noah is a very important piece of the Bulls. I believe Boozer/Rose/Noah have played a whopping 6 games together this season, yet they are still only a game and a half behind the almighty Heat.

I'm pumped. All signs point to a win. Miami on a quick 2nd night trip, feeling down about themselves, searching for answers, etc. etc. Throw in the fact that Duncan and Blair have started to really dominate opponents down low, and Miami's lack of depth down low....I think this could be a fun game.
