This year's Spurs team will be remembered in the same breath as the Mavs who lost to the Golden State Warriors.

As much as I would agree that the Tim Duncan era is over, this series ain't over with yet.

Losing to an 8th seed on your way into the sunset is a horrible way to end it.

Hell, at least lose to a decent team.

Don't worry, they will tank a couple of seasons and make sure they get the best players available to become good again.

The Spurs had one of the best starts ever with something like a 40-9 record and now are folding like a Mavs team. But you'll always have the time machine

I still need to know how on earth this team won 61 games in the regular season!

Unlike everyone else, they were injury free until the last couple of weeks of the season. That is why they had such a good season.

It's obvious you don't watch them, because if you did, you'd know it's because they've had a mental meltdown on par with Dallas circa 20??(name any year in the last 10) and are a shell of the team that was playing championship caliber ball in late January.

It had everything to do with team chemistry and execution and little to do with who was on the court. Now, they could put 5 Lebrons in a Spurs jersey and they'd still get smoked by Memphis.

Bitter? No. I am just a realist who knows basketball. If you guys would have taken off the blinders, you would have seen it.

I'll say it like it is. The Spurs era is over. However, they have had the BEST DYNASTY in Texas EVER! Dallas can't and won't ever win even one title yet alone 4. They are like the raiders. Lots of blow, never a title. Thanks SA!!

Memphis is a really tough 8 seed. Think of it this way, since January 1st up through the end of the regular season, Memphis had a better record than the Spurs.

Being fairly young, I've grown up my whole life with the Spurs being a top team in the West. It's weird knowing they won't be a top team anymore and that it's all coming to an end.

Danny is a ridiculous Spurs hater, but putting that aside the Spurs fell off for a couple reasons.

The main one is that they were playing a run-and-gun offensive style that is great for the regular season, but the lack of defense was killer in the playoffs. When the shots aren't going in, there is nothing to fall back on... and against playoff teams there will be times when the shots aren't falling.

The second is that Memphis plays great, tough defense and fundamentally sound basketball, which translates well to the playoffs. That's why a lot of us, myself included, were praying for New Orleans (or anyone but Memphis) in the first round.

Third was that the Spurs got away from what got them the 1-seed in the first place. They went to a grind it out offense and a small rotation when they had been throwing the whole bench out and moving the ball like crazy... in other words, they played Memphis' game. Yet the Spurs still didn't play defense.

A distant fourth is that switching 2-3 shots here and there from makes to misses and they would be tied or ahead in the series. Those first two losses were close. It would still be ugly, but Memphis had to hit gamewinning threes to win the first two.

Lakers of the 80s
Bulls of the 90s
