The amount of butthurt people have towards the Spurs is incredible.

I'm a Spurs fan, but good lord, to deny that the Grizzlies are playing great basketball right now is just stupid. The only way you can think that is if you are Simplegay or a simpleton.

They may not be the best team in the Western Conference, but if they keep playing like they are now, I don't see how it is out of the question for them to take the Lakers to 7 games if the Lakers don't turn it on.

Everyone wants to say the Lakers are the best team..I agree they are, if they turn it on, but they have yet to do so. Hell, they're struggling w/ the Dallas ***ricks right now.

And personally, I think the Grizz are playing better ball without Rudy Gay. He's a one dimensional player who only scores, and without him they focus on pounding the paint and having their wing players play hard defense and smart, efficient offense.

You people who are saying I'm rationalizing or somehow humiliated after the Spurs loss are either forgetful or just plain dense. I said all along I thought Memphis presented a very tough matchup for the Spurs and that Memphis could win the series. I didn't think they would, but all along I said it was possible.

Now all of a sudden you characterize me as shocked or stupified that it actually happened? You can do better than that.

My guess is none of you will remember acting like jackasses when Memphis challenges for the WC championship. So do me a favor and get over yourselves.

I could see OKC getting swept out of this series. They have the same matchup deficiencies on the inside that the Spurs had, and they are less disciplined as a team than the Spurs. Memphis is playing lights-out defense right now, and good defense almost always prevails over good offense.

Memphis is on a hot streak, but saying they are the best team in the WC reminds me of all of the "Arky state is really a good team" threads.

You don't get disqualified if your wins occur during a hot streak. That's the whole point. The playoffs are when you want that to happen.

Well, looks like LA is no longer in the running for "hottest" team right now. However, the Mavs have won 3 straight with 2 of them being on the road.........

Winning doesn't define good or hot.

Moreso than losing.

I've been saying Z-Bo and Gasol are good, but when you are rolling out Tony Allen and Sam Young as your starting wing players, you are starting behind every night.


I just don't think they have the offensive firepower to do it, and I'm just enjoying the ride now.

And I'm certainly ready to get these two former starters back next year, but I don't know who's minutes they will take.

Who is the other started besides Gay?

Sam Young is playing really well. 10 points on 50%+ shooting in the playoffs is great, considering he's their 4th or 5th option on the floor.

Tony Allen is a defensive stopper. Those are worth their weight in gold, IMO. Bruce Bowen was a regular starter for the Spurs for 5-6 years and nobody during that time would have traded him for a better offensive player. For those types of players, any offense they can give you is gravy.

Memphis has great options. You want stops? You put Allen and/or Battier on the floor. You want offense? You get Mayo and Conley out there. You want to pound the paint? Put Arthur out there at SG/SF and pound the ball into the big fellas.

Memphis has balance, they have defense, and they have a go-to guy that is playing out of his mind right now. AND they have more size at every position than every other team left in the playoffs with the possible exception of LA.

It's just a theory.

Pretty sure you can scratch the lakers off the list at this point. Barring a miracle Dallas will be waiting for their WC finals opponent, which will probably be Memphis.

Memphis ain't dead yet. At home for game 6. Doesn't look good, but if they win game 6, anything can happen.

With the way OKC won game 4 and then destroying Memphis in game 5, I would be very surprised and impressed if Memphis was able to win tonight.

After the 3OT loss, I mentioned whoever won Game 5 would win the series in 6.

Hey, the Griz are good, and this series IS NOT over, but for someone to be proclaiming them the best in the West because they knocked off the Spurs, that's laughable.

OkC is giving them a pretty good run for their money aren't they?

I predict the Grizzlies win tonight and OkC ends their run in game 7.

I HOPE OkC ends their run in game six tho.

Clearly the best team in the West should go to 7 games against the #4 seed, in the 2nd round. No doubt they are unbeatable.

Just saying that the "best team" is struggling to win in the 2nd round, and has faced elimination for 2 games. These are not characteristics of a dominant team.
