Who cares, this season is a throw away anyhow.....we got our championship! They'll miss the playoffs and work on re-grouping after that. I'm pretty good with it.

I am hoping for lotto pick número uno & Dwight Howard signed in offseason. 2013 NBA champs here we come!!!

I would have gladly thrown the 2011-12 season for a championship this summer. If they suck this year, oh well. Just bank on some free agents and a good draft pick (something mavs haven't had in a decade).

It's only two games into the season. Plenty of ball to be played.

Didn't the Mavs start 0-4 in 05'-06'?

Lot's of turnover and not a lot of time for all the new pieces to gel. Not really concerned.

Edit: it was 06-07.

Also, I don't think anybody is expecting a Mavs repeat this year. Cubes set up the contracts nicely to make a run at some key players next offseason. If he whiffs on some game-changers, then I'll be concerned.

if the mavs had started 2-0: "Carlisle has done a great job integrating the new parts, everything looks up!!!"

Mavs started 06-07 0-4 and ended up 67-15. Not worried.

I'm hedging the whole ****ing season. Mavs are World Champs and theyre positioned to sign a max free agent while still competing. What evidence shows you that they can't turn it around and compete in the playoffs? 11 straight years of Dirk+ non-stars winning 50+ games not enough?

Exactly 1 year ago they were the hottest team in the league but all we could do was mock them and cut them down. Not this year. I'm going to enjoy the season this time regardless

How is it hedging if I already said I don't think the Mavs will repeat? More like acknowledgment of the facts.

I'm just happy to see the Mavs World Champion banner in the rafters. I do not have high expectations for this year, and I will have those same expectations if the Mavs win the next 10 games or lose the next 10 games.

I trust Carlisle to max out this teams potential, but I think that potential is pretty low. Wont be able to judge this decision until next summer.

Even if they'd resigned Chandler, I didnt like the thought of so many old legs playing a compressed schedule filled with back to backs and some back back backs. I thought a short compressed schedule like '99 where they just had to survive a few months would work well for them, but this one is like a very long sprint.

Why are many of you so confident you will get Howard? I am not sure I see any reason to think he won't end up a Laker somehow. Seriously, do you think the NBA wants the Lake Show to go through serious rebuilding after Kobe is gone?

I don't know who is really confident that the Mavs will land the best C in the NBA. I do think it is Cuban's intended play, however, based on how the contracts line up.

This. Plus the fact Cubes will be able to offer a MAXED contract, and a team positioned to contend for 'Ships with Dirk still in full force and likely a top flight lotto pick to boot. I for one think the Mavs have a great shot to land Howard.
