Hometown guys are a little biased, as they should be. I've watched a number of hometown crews, and the Rockets crew is the only one I've noticed being very bad (and you would be hard pressed to find a team I'm more apathetic about than Houston... maybe Toronto). The few times I've watched them they would virtually ignore a posterizing dunk if it's the other team, but if the Rockets get a layup off a slow rotation they need a towel for cleanup. I've heard them say that the Rockets PG "lost the ball" when he actually got his shot stuffed. No mention of a block at any point. That's just bad.

I don't mind all the "we" and "our guys" type stuff; after all, a lot of the local announcers are former players. They can still call the game as it happens.

Why anyone is upset at announcers rooting and being biased is beyond me.

Sorry that Bill Worell and Matt Bullard are biased calling games on a local channel covering the the Houston Rockets.

I guess they should be completely unbiased and show the same amount of love to the other team, even when they are paid by FSN to cover the Rockets?

I have no problem with any homer commentator for any team on their local channel. Who gives a *****if they are biased, I would be pissed if they werent biased.

Ulrich.. its pretty obvious you have watched MAYBE one game.

They are actually very honest when announcing other teams players who do good. They will routinely call out Rockets players for getting owned.

They should at least acknowledge that there are two teams on the court.

mazag, quite a bit more than that; I spent a good 18 years living in the Rockets tv footprint. Being a Rockets homer, you probably don't notice it much but they are pretty bad... much worse than any other group I've watched. If anything, it's the other crews I haven't seen much.

because those of us who live in the area of Houston locally and have the NBA League Pass are blacked out and forced to watched those broadcasts.

also, sometimes the other regional broadcasts are not available on NBA League Pass, so in order to watch your team on those networks, you have to watch the opposing team's local boradcast. local broadcasters are also shown nationally on NBATv as well, such as NBA Fan Night.

i thought we had made this clear, by mention of the NBA LP earlier.

and NO ONE is saying don't be biased towards your home team that has a partnership with your employer. but there are degrees of bias. again, i thought this was clear in this thread.

Last season when I had to watch the Grizzlies play the Spurs on NBA TV with the Spurs announcers was awful. Yelling Timmaaayyy and Red Rocket was just so hard to listen to. For a playoff game to be called by two amateur announcers was just sad.

Watched the end of the Wizards-Rockets game yesterday. Worrell is a homer's homer. He was commenting that officials need to go back and read the rulebook re: a certain play. And he was wrong. Good lord.

He actually wasn't wrong. It was a bad call.

Hate on Worrell all you want, but Bullard has been very good the past couple of seasons. He's fairly funny and typically gives props to the good opposing teams players. He was constantly complimenting Wall yesterday.

Holy **** people get it through your Rocket loving heads. There is a difference in being a homer and being someone who sounds like a jackass on air. EVERY hometown announcer is and sounds like a homer.
What sets Worrell and Bullard apart (way moreso Worrell) is how he sounds like a whiney *****. During the Spurs/Rockets game a couple of weeks ago, the was a five minute stretch where Worrell literally called a travel or a foul on every play. Had to watch on mute after that.
This has NOTHING to do with being a Spurs or Mavs fan. Its clear as day how terrible these two are.

I'm a Rockets' fan and I think both Bullard and Drexler sucks. Bullard tries too hard to be funny and Drexler always states the obvious.

Love it. They're announcing it the way they SHOULD announce the game. I certainly enjoy spurs games more because of it. Couldn't care less what a non spurs fan thinks.

Hes a former player for the rockets and he said many times that 30 was an important number for Martin. While to someone like you.. it might be stating the obvious.. to a diehard rockets follower immersed in the game, he was stating how close he had just come to a career high. Nice try though

I'm a rockets fan and enjoy the crew, especially bill worrell. The people who don't like the rockets that have negative opinions on him, drexler and Bullard don't mean anything to me, change the channel to the dallass or san antonio fox sports crew or hit mute.
