IMO this guy has always been a huge D-bag. From punching his former team mate in the nuts, to acting like he's a damn all star when all he's really ever been is a streaky hot offensive scorer(when he's on, he's on. I'll admit that), to getting a Larry tat before he had ever won shizz. And now this? You wanna join the Heat?

http://m.espn.go.com/nba/story?storyId=7753958

Show me the money? The heat have no cash next year, the max he could get is the MLE. Even if I was a Mavs man this guy would annoy me

I do not like the Mavs but this guy is no different to me than James Hardin from the Thunder minus all the flopping. I have never understood the massive hate for Terry besides the Finley incident.

He's been saying all year that he is auditioning every time he steps on the court this year. He's not too happy that Mavs management blew up a lot of the championship team and is playing for next year's free agent class.

I don't have a problem with free agents doing whatever they want in free agency.

Nor do I have a problem with a player telling management that they probably won't re-sign with their current team once they become a free agent.

I do grow weary of players talking about joining other teams while on the payroll of their current team.

How is this different than what Steve Nash said?

I just wonder why he says he wants to be a Mav, but he also wants to get paid.

Then he spouts off about joint the Heat, right after they just lost to them. The heat won't be able to "show him the money" because they have none to spare

Steve Nash said he wants to stay with the Suns, but if they don't improve the team he would like to join the Heat because they are contenders.

I'm surprised Nash would say that. Didn't he say earlier in the season that he did not want to chase a championship?

quote:
Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash, one of the top free agents this summer, made ripples around the league in a radio interview Thursday, saying he would consider joining the Miami Heat.

"I'm not coming back to the Suns if there isn't improvement," Nash told "The Dan Patrick Show".

Nash explained he's expecting the Suns to try to make those improvements, but that he's looking forward to becoming a free agent and deciding where to continue his career.

The hypothetical of LeBron James asking Nash to join up in Miami for one last push at a championship was brought up.

"I would listen," Nash said. "He's phenomenal. I love what they're doing there. A lot of people don't like them because they put all that talent there. But they're professional, they play hard, they play together. Their coaching staff has done a great job, so I have a tremendous amount of respect for them.

"I would definitely listen."

Im not surprised Nash feels that way, PHX owernship is one of the biggest jokes in the league. I am surprised he came out and said it before the season was over.

Terry mentioning that he wants to get paid, and that he would consider the Heat doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I took it out of context though.

Okay butthurt Grizz fan. Other than Harden doing he's 3's down hand gesture, there is no comparison to Terry. When Terry starts knifing through the lane and getting to the rim like Harden, come talk to me.

How so? He can shoot you in and out of games. They pretty much play the same role on the team.

Harden is a much better passer and defender than Terry.

Don't speak on issues you don't know anything about. You won't see me here talking about the dynamics of Memphis because I don't know how the team works together. You clearly don't know or understand Harden's skills and role on the Thunder.

except Harden doesn't have an impact in clutch situations. I just looked it up - does Harden really have 0 made 3 pointers in the clutch this year, shooting .286 overall?

For one he's the 3rd option close and late but yeah he's not clutch

Wut

Harden is one of the most efficient shooters in the league (#2 in TS%, #3 in eFG%).

Very small sample size on that .286. Just 7 FGA in clutch situations, per 82games. His usage rate in these situations is ridiculously low in these situations, just 3.6 FGA/48 (compared to 40 for KD and 28 for Russ).

Harden becomes a wallflower late in the game, because he doesn't work extremely hard off the ball and Durant & Westbrook are so ball-dominant when all 3 are in the game at the same time.

I was hoping Terry would stay with the Mavs but it is not likely to happen. Cuban is a smart guy, he's been very vocal about waiting to see how the value of players changes under the new CBA. It's likely that JET has overestimated his value even under the old CBA, much less the new one. I doubt any team will give him what he is expecting.

Aside from Dirk and maybe Kidd (when he's WIDE open), JET is the only other guy who desires to take and make big shots. The dream scenario, obviously, is DWill ending up in Dallas, which would make JET's departure sad but acceptable as he would fill that role and more very nicely.

I don't think he says he wants to get paid. You're taking it out of context.

He just wants to get shown that he's wanted with an extension offer. That's all.

Harden has low number of shots in the clutch for good reason. He isn't gonna make it. Harden knows it and his teammates know it.

There's nothing wrong with that either....he doesn't have to

The Finley incident (punching his former team mate in the groin) should be enough for you to understand it. You don't punch guys in the groin, especially former team mates.

There's more than that though, if you want it. Terry once intentionally tripped George Hill (back when he was on the Spurs); Terry was on the ground, Hill was about to head back up the court, and Terry clearly intentionally kicked his foot out from under him.

Terry once tried to injure Ginobili by hitting him hard while he was contorting himself in mid-air, knocking Manu to the ground. To compound it, Terry then tried to portray himself as a 'good sportsman' for the cameras by offering Manu a hand up, which he angrily refused.

Terry likes to portray himself as a nice guy (for example, by donating to charity - and telling everyone about it); he's a jerk though, and the examples above are just the ones I recall off the top of my head. Just pay attention during Spurs-Mavs games and you'll probably notice something else (beyond that annoying 'jet' routine of his).

Besides the groin punch, the other stuff listen sounds like stuff seen in a normal rivalry.

Thompson. Because the Spurs are lilly white when it comes to playing clean games. The Spurs just retired the jersey of someone who has a bigger reputation as being a dirty player than being a good basketball player.

Bruce Bowen made the most of what he had; he's one of my favorite players. He didn't have much offensively, but he made a career out of defense.

If you make a career out of hounding guys, giving them no space, etc., you will develop that reputation justifiably or not. Bruce actually apologized for the one dirty play where he kicked Ray Allen. Terry never apologized (he even had Cuban out trying to defend it).

Go look at the video the NBA suspended Bowen for, the alleged 'kick' to Chris Paul. There's a slow-motion version on youtube where Paul:
1. Hits Bowen in the junk with the back of his hand, and
2. when Bowen tries to back off (lifting his foot backward) Paul throws himself in the opposite direction, pretending Bowen 'kicked' him.
The NBA suspended Bowen after watching the video because Paul was a 'superstar' player, which was a travesty.

I admire Bowen (especially coming from where he did - his childhood was a nightmare, and he still made the absolute most of what he had). When he made a mistake (Allen), he owned up to it and apologized. Terry on the other hand is a little blustering, posturing, nut-punching dirtbag. If you think punching a guy in the groin is defensible, remind me never to play a pick-up game with you.

Are there delusional Pistons fans out there that still claim Laimbeer wasn't a dirty player? Every championship team has dirty players, and Bowen was one of the most effective of all-time. Jet is a classic ineffective dirty player.
TheMasterplan

If a spurs fan hates Jason Terry for playing a little dirty then he must really hate Bruce Bowen.

Dirtiest player in the league. He would purposely injure people by putting his leg underneath players after they shot. Not to mention multiple kicks to the face. wtf?
