LMAO. Why the hell is he grabbing his balls at the end of that sequence. I didn't notice that live. Hilarious.

Artest's tweets.

quote:
"Hope James Hardin (sic) is ok...," World Peace wrote. "I remember when I hit by Marc Gasol the same way.. I was spitting up blood and a headache during the game..."

"I just watched the replay again..... Oooo.. My celebration of the dunk really was too much... Didn't even see James ..... Omg... Looks bad," he tweeted.

Artest is a ****ing dumbass, and am embarrassment to the himself, his franchise, and the league. I personally hope he doesn't see an NBA floor for a VERY long time, if ever--he's proven incapable of controlling himself and is a menace to his colleagues. What a POS excuse for a human being.

THAT SAID,

I don't believe he was specifically targeting Harden or setting out to strike him in the head. He was reckless and foolish, and totally caught up in the heat of the moment, but while his swinging his elbows was intentional, I don't believe it was a premeditated attack on James. Artest was so out of control, it could have been his own teammate he clocked, he was so spazzed out.

Definitely not pre-meditated. That could have been Mother Theresa and he still would've thrown it.

Legit crazy + emotional play + close quarters = Bones Jones to the face

Love Artest, but he should be suspended for the playoffs. Real talk.

"I got real emotional and excited, and it was unfortunate that James had to get hit with the unintentional elbow," said World Peace, who had scored 12 points and played solid defense on Durant. "I hope he's OK. Oklahoma, they're playing for a championship this year. I apologize to the Thunder and James Harden. It was just unfortunate."

My ass.

If it had been Matt Barnes, I think it would have been premeditated and intentional. With Artest, it is just crazy and intentional.

I wonder what it is like when those two d-bags go at it at practice.

For the record, the way Ebanks has been playing, this might be a beneficial outcome for the Lakers. One less BSC small forward that needs playing time.

I think it is a 7 game suspension.

Roids do crazy things to people. Should be gone for his career with his history.

I say Bynum's is worse, because he could have potentially paralyzed JJ. It's a much smaller player, in the air, that he is shoving sideways. This is a vicious elbow to the head.
Both are terrible, one is a chump move(bynum) the other is crazy(artest).

Pat, a couple inches higher and Artest might have put Harden into a coma. No joke. If you watch boxing or MMA, trained fighters usually get knocked out on much weaker hits. They almost never eat hits that perfect. Artest had a full wind up, uncontested contact with the hardest point of his elbow, and a full follow through. I mean that was a haymaker to end all haymakers.

Seriously, Harden is lucky that wasn't career-altering

I too feel like he should be out of the league, and have felt that for a few years now. He's a huge liability to everyone.

I am not going to pretend I can read someones intentions from their facial expressions, but it doesn't look like he was really thinking about it as he did it. It looked more like a split second reaction, and not something he was consciously thinking about. To me, that is more dangerous than if it had been premeditated. Its like having a Chow that violently attacks anything that surprises it. You can't train it out of him, it is just instinct, and there is no way to correct it.

This was the best point made on this entire thread. The Chow analogy is the best I've ever heard about him.

I don't think he intentionally meant to take out Harden. Ron is simply BSC and has an IQ of 60 like an earlier poster mentioned.

The question is, since it seems somewhat obvious to most that there was no pre-meditation, are you suspending him for the act or simply for connecting squarely with the elbow? Had he not connected would he be suspended at all? Would he even have been kicked out had he simply whiffed with that flail?

Oh look. Simplebay, in an effort to show that his cluelessness doesn't stop with basketball, is here to let us know that he has no idea how head injuries work either.

I've got multiple family members who work in the ER and intensive care, and who regularly see major head injuries. They're the ones who brought up massive head trauma comas. It isn't a stretch, either. Artest is built like a brick outhouse and it looked like he swung as hard as he could. Wound up, twisted his hips + body to add more force, and followed through. If that blow had connected with Harden's temple, his brain woulda bounced around in his skull like a pinball. Hell, he got a concussion just from getting hit in the neck, which means that the peripheral energy was still enough to rattle his brain and cause a fair bit of damage.

Let's compare Artest's hit with Torres's.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSb5ihzciWg&feature=related

Both intentionally go for the victim's head.
Both are non-hockey/non-basketball plays.
Both have a history of dirty hits.

Torres got 25 games.
Artest should get about the same.

I'm just laughing trying to picture Artest trying to "premeditate" anything.

Premeditate? Who gives a damn… the problem with Artest is he doesn’t think about anything more than 5 seconds in the future – that is the problem.

I have no clue how you came up with that.

It's obvious, even from the .gif, that he winds up and takes out Harden on purpose because Harden got in his space. His expression during the .gif says it all.

It looks like a martial arts expression as he follows through.

Win win for everyone.
