Lots of players have had very exciting solitary games. Tony ****ing Delk dropped 54 on Phoenix.

I don't think Kobe's average game is as exciting as say an average 2000 Iverson game. Kobe is a frantastic player, but he isn't overwhelmingly exciting from game to game.

I'd stop to watch anyone score 60+ points.

Kobe's playing the Bobcats? Meh.
Iverson is gonna play the Raptors? **** is going down.
Kobe playing a game 7 where he isn't pouting and trying to prove that the Lakers can't win without him, I'm watching.

I don't give a crap how "boring" the spurs are to some people
They freaking win games
They have the highest winning percentage of ALL the 4 major sports since '97 I believe
Plus 4 titles since '99
As long as they keep winning, they can be "boring" every year
Go Spurs Go!

The boring comments only come from people who haven't watched them in 5+ years. They don't run their offense through Duncan anymore, which means the days of "Duncan takes his man 1v1 and shoots if he isn't double teamed or kicks it out if he is" are over.

This is now the highest scoring & most efficient offense in the NBA. And they sure aren't averse to shooting before the shot clock runs out

I know this is about individual players, but for a few years the CWebb-JWill combo was by far the most exciting thing in the league. Also, anyone who says Lebron is exciting to watch probably only watches his highlights. Don't get me wrong, he's an amazing talent that will go down as one of the best to ever play, but watching him play is like watching paint dry. There's no finesse, nothing he does is easy on the eyes. He's either steamrolling through the lane or holding the ball for 12 seconds on the perimeter.

not to derail the the thread, but most of the people who will talk about how boring the spurs are were also bragging to all their buddies about how great the billy gillispie a&m teams were. lock down defense dude! who cares if we have low-scoring games, look at our opponent's shooting percentage.

they just hate the spurs b/c they hate the spurs. and that's fine, but the boring argument is and was stupid.

its a thread about personal opinion of exciting players, so if idiots weren't coming on telling people that their opinion was wrong, then maybe it would have gone differently.

As well as probably the greatest 3 quarters of a game ever, outscoring a team single handedly.

AggieOO is on the money.

Dr. Ag 2015, I tend to agree with you...maybe less exciting and more dominating...the way a great center like Kareem or Wilt was dominating.

There is a lot of bitterness/backlash about Ginobili whenever his name is mentioned on this forum. His talent has always been underrated, and I think people that don't watch the Spurs a lot tend to buy into that.

If you don't personally have him on your list, fine. No big deal. But why do some of you have to act like you got kicked in the junk when somebody else thinks he is one of the more exciting players around?

Quit being such freaking drama queens.

He's a lightning rod on this board. Most Spurs fans on this board think he is underrated while many non Spurs fans think he is overrated on this board. Probably bias on both sides of the fence.

It's just another in the long list of hot topics for the bball other board.

keithd - I get what you are saying, and I agree. But I don't get why people have to overstate their case with the "you're an idiot if you think X" attitude, when the idea that's being presented isn't all that far-fetched.

It would be like you saying that Dirk belongs on a list of the best outside shooters of all time (which he does), and then me picking 10 names out of a hat and saying "these guys are all clearly better".

All you have to do is listen to the commentary of any Spurs game, by seemingly unbiased play-by-play people (and in some cases, negatively biased because they played against him), and you will consistently hear the word "exciting" and "electrifying" when you hear Ginobili's game described. It isn't that far fetched.
Simplebay

that analogy doesn't work. why? because if you ask 10 random NBA sports pundits if Dirk is one of the 10 best outside shooter of all time 9 out of 10 will say yes.

If you ask them if Manu Ginobili is one of the 10 most electrifying players of all time, 9 out of 10 will laugh at you.

The idiocy is not surrounding the opinion. The idiocy is skewing the statistics this board filters through black and silver colored frames (Manu over Lebron, Magic, and most of the other true top 10 most electrifying players)

Idiocy = predicting the outcome of a poll which has never been taken, and then using your "made up" statistics to call somebody else an idiot.

I don't know that either of the assumptions you just made are valid. That's the whole point. Neither do you.

Mass,

I agree it doesn't make much sense to make a post with "Your crazy/stupid if you don't agree with me". But you and I both konw there are plenty of posts on here that go that way. I usually try to ignore those posts all together.

MANU GINOBILI DOESN'T STAND A CHANCE IN HELL OF BEING RECOGNIZED BY NBA PUNDITS AT ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING PLAYERS OF ALL TIME TO WATCH. NO CHANCE. NONE. JUST LIKE POP DOESN'T STAND A CHANCE OF BEING RECOGNIZED BY NBA PUNDITS AS THE BEST COACH IN THE NBA THIS YEAR. YOU PEOPLE ARE ALL SUCH IDIOTS!

so apparently you weren't catching on the symbolism i was using in my post.

the point is: just because the spurs fans on this board think Manu is top 10 (ish), or top 2 in some cases (lolz).... does not prove a thing. and disagreeing with that shouldn't be called out on.

let me use another analogy since you like those:

A Spurs fan on this board complaining about some people laughing at the opinion Manu is top 10 most electrifying everything ever, is much like a Christian in the United States complain about religious persecution when 76% of the USA is Christian.

Nor does it disprove it. Not only have I not heard any concrete criterion established by which the category can be measured, but I also haven't heard anything to suggest to me that the OP wasn't soliciting entirely subjective opinions.

Given your credibility on this board it is a waste of my time for me to take this any further with you. I'm disappointed in myself that I've actually taken it this far.

A perfect example of what I've been talking about.

Some peoples lists have had Mugsy Bogues, Steve Nash, Reggie Miller. Yet nobody thought to question those names. Ginobili seems to be the only one that definitively "does not belong". That is curious to me.

Not sure why some people are so upset about complete disagreement that Manu is not one of the top 10 most exciting players ever. it's just a minority opinion on this board. no need to panic. if you don't think Manu is the best thing since sliced bread, you are probably considered "wrong" by this board.
bmart97
How long do you want to ignore this user?

No, you are "wrong" for saying you would take Shaq before Manu as an exciting player. Powerful & dominant; of course, but not more exciting. Chuck yelling "GINOBLI" is what I mean by exciting. Again, it's a personal list, Barkley & I agree, but you call us idiots for saying he's exciting and fun to watch.

Found a fun article that said the best all-around player was Kobe, but that "wildest shooter" is:

Manu Ginolbi makes the most ridiculous shots on the planet to even shut Greg Popovich up from telling him to stop taking them. Manu's game tying shot against the Grizzlies in Game 5 to extend the game into overtime and then the game winning shot to extend the series in Round 1 of the 2011 Playoffs is just a small sample of his highlight reel.

Feel free to check out the list of NBA's best...(you can copy & paste, I'm lazy):
