No, you are "wrong" for saying you would take Shaq before Manu as an exciting player. Powerful & dominant; of course, but not more exciting. Chuck yelling "GINOBLI" is what I mean by exciting. Again, it's a personal list, Barkley & I agree, but you call us idiots for saying he's exciting and fun to watch.

1. This is ridiculous.

2. Shaq was a very exciting player. Dude was literally tearing down rims and handling the ball coast-to-coast on fastbreaks. He was one of the most athletically gifted/coordinated players in history before he got lazy. To say someone who considers Shaq more exciting than Ginobli is wrong is just idiotic. These are just opinions. Some people are excited by Black Tornado spin moves and power dunks. Other by passing and lay-ups. There's no set formula.

3. To say Ginobli is one of the most exciting players ever is fine. I hate the Spurs, but I agree that Manu is fun to watch. But to keep throwing the Barkley co-sign out there as the end-all stamp of approval is about the dumbest thing I've read this week. For all of Barkley's insight, he says some truly, truly idiotic things. Just because he played basketball doesn't mean he's watched as much as any other person even on this message board. All you have to do was replay the tapes of him working March Madness last month. Just terrible.

Hard to believe you could put together highlight mix tapes of more than 10 other NBA players with more exciting plays than that. Given, there is more tape available now than is available of older players. But still. Dude is fun to watch.

Here's my list:

1. Michael Jordan
2. Dominique Wilkins
3. Magic Johnson
4. Jason Kidd
5. Vince Carter
6. Dr. J
7. Isiah Thomas
8. Blake Griffin
9. Clyde Drexler
10. John Starks/Reggie Miller (but only as a tandem against each other)

From Highlight Reels I'd say Pete Maravich is top 3, and Elgin Baylor top 10, but I never saw them play.

Another guy that hasn't been mentioned is Chris Jackson. At LSU, he was most exciting college player in decade. Jackson was thrilling with the Nuggets. He converted to Islam and changed his name. I don't remember his new name.

A point about the Spurs low Finals ratings-- Knicks series was hurt by public's revenge for the lockout (back in the 90's when that actually mattered) and being the 1st year post-Jordan (Chicago Bulls Jordan, anyway).

The Pistons series ratings were respectable because it was a competitive series. It was the Nets and Cavaliers series that were in the tank--absolute blow-outs and teams no one cared about.

Defensive/boring play wouldn't have mattered one bit if those series would've been remotely contested. 90's Knicks weren't flashy but their series with Pacers and Bulls were awesome.

Also, the small market argument is conflating two issues. A small market team may have trouble being profitable (NBA over-expanded), but that isn't what's at play for Finals ratings. People on the East and West coasts have absolutely zero more respect/interest in the Mavs than the Spurs because Dallas is a larger market.

It's only the Lakers-Celtics-Bulls-Knicks that will ratchet up any kind of national interest. A star-studded team like the Heat are currently will work as well, but it's not the franchise itself.

So if Manu played for LA he would be a more exciting player because they get higher ratings?

I think you could certainly name 10 others more exciting than Manu but he is certainly an exciting player and one of the most unique players ever to play the game with the way he sees the court and contorts his body. Before he cut his hair he looked even cooler. The main thing for Manu is he always goes full speed and you never have any idea what is going to happen if he is on the court. He could come up with a crazy steal, a ridiculous pass, an athletic rebound, or drive through an entire defense and put up a ridiculous shot. I don't know how many games I have watched where Manu just dominated but you look at his stat line and it is something like 20/7/5/2.

I don't know how you put Reggie Miller or Dirk on this list. Both are HoF players without a doubt but they are basically jumpshooters with only a few real highlights outside of filling it up from all over the court. There are lots of other incredible players that weren't necessarily that exciting, especially amongst big men. To me exciting means you don't know what is going to happen but you know something great could occur at any moment so you don't even want to miss a minute while that player is on the court.

Manu Ginobili is not even close to being the most exciting player of all time. Anyone who claims that is insane.

And before the Manu d*ck suckers get their panties in a wad, please understand that I am not attacking Manu or the Spurs. But good grief, that's like saying Goran Dragic is in the top 10 most exciting players as well.

Houston, he didn't say Manu was the most exciting. He said Manu is on a list of most exciting players. There's a big difference.

A) Please give some objective criteria to describe "most exciting" so that we can evaluate sentence #1

OR

B) Please explain how somebody can be wrong when they state THEIR OPINION that Manu Ginobili is among the most exciting players of all time
