The Raptors love Lowry, and they have the 8th pick. We need to, in this order, get rid of the following players:
Lowry
Martin
Dalembert
Scola

They wouldn't trade Lowry for 8th pick straight up... What else is in the deal?

I have heard a few rumblings about that via twitter.

You would think if D-Will comes here then Dragic is not gonna stay to play backup. Guessing Sergio Llull would be brought over

Also hearing the Blazers are interested BIG TIME in Kyle Lowry, might be able to get that #6 overall pick from them.

Exactly what the rockets need, two coach killers on the same team. That would be the most under achieving group of quitters the league has seen in some time.

LOLZ someone is stoooooopid.

You get those two together and let Morey find a few gems (his specialty) and there will be plenty of wins coming Houstons way. Which in turn will turn the two of them into the exact opposite of coach killers. Both have had their immature moments but most were due to the fact they weren't playing on a contending team. Putting the two of them on the same team guarantees if nothing else the team would be a contender.

I still don't think it will happen, but let's say the Rockets are able to trade for Dwight Howard. Would you all rather try to sign D-Will or make a trade for Josh Smith (if Houston even has the assets after trading for Howard) and then signing Dragic? Given the fact that Howard and Smith are best friends and the fact that you would have a third high quality player in Dragic, I think I like that alternative better. I would suspect Houston is a top 3 western conference team if they can make these moves. Again though, still not expecting it to happen.

^^ Talk about defense, that would be awesome.

But say we trade for both Dwight and Smith and sign Dragic to a resonable deal and clear cap space next year, or even move Dragic after signing him. The Rockets could have enough $$ to bring in Williams along with Smith and Howard. That wouldn't be too shabby either.

**** I would be stocked with just getting Howard lets let Morey just try to do that first.

The only way Morey screws this up is if he ends up drafting mediocre talent with 14, 16, and 18 without adding any superstars to our roster before next season.

This guy is a wizard at cashing in on investments but just can't seem to make the one big move.

I think Morey knows he needs to do something big or he might be out of work. I don't think he will settle for drafting three mid-range first rounders anymore.

If Deron Williams is in a Rockets jersey, I will be even more pissed than when I found out Derek Fisher was (temporarily) on our team. I will ALWAYS hate him because of those years he played with the flopping Jazz team. That's not going to happen anyways. Steve Francis is a close friend of Dwight and he told sports radio 610 this morning that Dwight is supposedly looking at house in Brooklyn.

The whole Josh Smith thing has been a dream more than a reality the last few years so Im not putting any hope in that

What I want to do is trade Lowry+pick #18 to the Kings for their pick, then give our 14 and 16 picks to the Raptors for their #8 since they aren't especially interested in anyone in the draft anyways. From there we give Morey one last chance and drafting young tallent

My worry is that we **** the bed with two top 10 draft picks and are stuck with 0 assets and a whole bunch of suck for a long time.

quote:
I looked at the lottery for every year from 2000-2009 and compared it to picks 14-30 using win shares per 48 minutes for the careers of each player.

Amazingly, only 31 of 130 lottery picks have sustained a league-average win share/48 rate (.10), or 24% of the picks. Of the rest of the first-round picks, 40 of 161 picks have sustained a league-average win share rate, or 25%]. This means that the bottom half of first-round picks, on average, have been at least a league-average player just as often as lottery picks.

That study is somewhat pointless. A league-average player isn't the goal here...a franchise center piece is.

Compare the % of all-NBA talent to come out of the lottery vs. the back end of the draft.

Call me stupid all you want but each of those guys were able to get a well respected coach fired because they couldn't and wouldn't get with the program.

It should say Rockets received Shaun Livingston, Jon Leuer, and Jon Brockman along with the #12 pick.

exactly what are the rockets gaining in this trade? they gave up a good defender on the dirt cheap in dalembert and their #14 to move up 2 spots and some garbage players? that sounds like a good deal?

Rockets also cut $7mm off their cap. None of those chumps have guaranteed money for next year.

Dalembert is replaceable.

If we can't get Howard, Morey should be able to bring somebody in to make up for the whopping 7.5 points and 7 rebounds per game that Dalembert was averaging.

All he wants to do is jockey for position leading up to the draft to trade and get a superstar here. Hopefully that plan doesnt backfire

Unless they are trying to get Deron Williams and Howard, that 7MM wasn't much to worry about in my opinion.

why is anybody worried about losing sam dalembert?
TREX01
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Why is holding on to Dalembert important if you are going to be a lotto team again? The Rockets are trying to line up the pieces to make a splash. They can't be faulted for that. This team doesn't need another mediocre player taking up space.
