Losing the Bert isnt the issue, its the fact that we get practically nothing in return. Hopefully Morey isnt done, we need much more movement than that

I think I'm starting to lean towards not even going after Dwight, but lets consider if Orlando doesn't want to cut ties with him just yet anyway.

If the Rockets were able to trade up and get the #5 and #6 picks I feel like they could grab two players with all star potential and do so without giving up everything we've got.

Portland has made their interest in Lowry clear as have the Kings so lets assume the Rockets could send Kyle plus one of the three picks, preferably 18, to either team to get their pick. Even if they had to give up #12 or #16 I still feel like it's a trade worth making. After that we'd be left with two mid first picks to try and make a deal with the remaining team. With young assets like (Lee,Parsons,Patterson,Morris,Motiejunas) and the expiring contract of Martin the Rockets should be able to work out some type of a deal for the remaining pick. With both the picks in the deal I feel like an addition of Morris or maybe Motiejunas would be enough to seal the deal. Personally I'd really like to keep Parsons and Lee but if one had to go I'd give up Lee. Parsons ability to defend the new type of 6'8" scorers in this league is a huge asset.

If the Rockets mangaged this deal we would have the ability to draft two of these five players.

Beal
Barnes
MKG
Robinson
Drummond

You give me any two of those plus Scola, Dragic, Parsons, and the players that wouldn't be traded and thats not a bad mix of youth and experience. Not to mention all 5 of those players have very high ceilings and could develop into the type of star we are currently seeking.

Morey has to make the playoffs at the very least this season. That fact eliminates them using the picks either where they lay or at or using them to crack the top 10. The fact that they made the deal today makes me think they are having a hard time moving into the top 10 considering Dalembert would be a great piece either at the trade deadline or for salary roll-off for a rebuilding team like Orlando.

I think the move is they land either 1 or 2 players on the level of Gasol, Smith, or Evans. That's alright in my book. Would be stoked if they landed Howard somehow in it all, but have my doubts at this point. The fact that so many players are being linked in possible trades and scenarios makes me think Howard's not even really been in play.

IMHO, Adre Drummond is a MUST GET. 7'0, 275 lbs with a 7'6 wingspan at just 18 years old. And the only centers on our roster right now are Marcus Camby and Greg Smith, so we have to do SOMETHING.

Also, Brady Beal looks really, REALLY good. Especially when he whipped the Aggies this year

ATM9000-

I really hope Gasol is not a consideration. A guy on the downside of his career doesn't help this team. I would be okay with Smith and Evans (paired with Dragic). The only problem is who plays center.

These trades mean nothing at this point. We weren't contenders before, and we're not contenders after either. If they can flip the picks into higher picks and/or players, then it will be successful. I do think they wouldn't hesitate to use a top 5 pick either.

Interesting:

quote:
The Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets appear to be knee deep in trade negotiations. Players such as Tyreke Evans, Kyle Lowry and Chuck Hayes could all be moved. On Tuesday, a rumor circulated that had the Rockets offering Kyle Lowry and two first-rounders for Tyreke Evans and the rights to the No. 5 overall selection. Almost immediately, nearly every major news outlet (ESPN, NBA.com, Sports Illustrated) issued sourced reports denying the trade rumor. It looks like that trade is back on, as the teams are apparently "getting close" to a deal.

If that trade did go down, I would be curious as to whether or not Evans will play a single minute for the Rockets. I guess he could be a trade piece or someone the Rockets want to build around. If they go the route of Evans, then I could see them moving that number 5 pick from Sacramento and whatever remaining pick they had left (plus maybe Scola) to Atlanta for Josh Smith.

idk if that trade will be executed or not but your head will spin if you see all the rumors involving the Rockets that are out there.

A few of my favorites have involved kyle lowry and picks for the cavs #4 pick OR the Rockets being 1 of 5 teams trying to get the Bobcats #2 pick (offering all 3 picks for the #2).

This will get very interesting as we get closer and closer to draft time. What is troublesome is deciding whether or not we are out of the Dwight Howard sweepstakes prior to the start of the draft. Reason being are we drafting best available players for the Magic or what they need in order for a later trade OR are we drafting for our own teams needs? This is a big cluster-fu** and regardless of the outcome I at least admire Morey for not losing his mind. Im sure he looks like an insomniac right now.
