MJ was playing golf this afternoon at the Palmer course at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands.

The Palmer course is not part of Carlton Woods. It belongs to The Woodlands CC or whatever they call it these days. MJ did, in fact, spend Wednesday at Carlton Woods but I don't which of our courses he played (Nicklaus or Fazio). Don't know where he spent Thursday but my guess is that he played both courses over the two days because they're the best around and that's how he rolls. And the OP who stated he looked fat obviously didn't get a good look as he is still very much in shape.

As an aside, did you know that Bill Russel averages 15 and 22 over his career? That's right, he averaged 22 rebounds a game over 13 years.

Yes, in an era when he was the only one worth a damn. Same goes for Oscar Robertson averaging a triple double for an entire season.

Superior talent playing against mediocre at best talent. Not taking anything away from the players during that era, but no one can really argue that the level of talent in the NBA didn't really become elite until the 80s.

Karl Malone;
1. 2nd all time in career point
2. 1st in free throw attempts made (career)
3. Oldest player ever to log a triple double
4. 10.1 rebounds per game (career)

He missed 8 games total out of 1,442. 3 from suspensions

I'm not going to bother putting a stat by stat comparison. But you have to take into account two major things that have changed in the league since MJ retired...the second time.

1. Hand Checking
2. Zone Defense

These two things changed the NBA in major ways, that unless you saw the way teams played back then, you wouldn't understand. It gave priroties to the offense, and now to the point where true Centers aren;t utilized. That is mentioning when Jordan had to play against the likes of McHale, Hakeem, Shaq, Mutumbo, Mourning, Ewing, a notoriously dirty and hard hitting Bill Lambier, all during the hey days of the 80s and 90s.

The game evolved, but you're looking at perennial All-Star in their prime, and Hall of Fame Centers during that era. And outside of maybe Hakeem and Robinson, Jordan ate their lunch.

I am old enough to remember The Jordan Years... I remember the Illegal Defense Era and I also remember hand checking Era, Double Clutch... blah blah blah... I also remember this

(And Clyde dunking on David Robinson too... Point is... They weren't invincible at the rim)

You talk about elite centers and different defenses... But if you put Lebron in the same situation he would also have a team with a true center (Like Jordan had), and possibly play a Small Forward position like Scottie.

If Lebron were in Jordan's era... He'd know the system, he'd be used to the system... And I don't see why he wouldn't adapt to the era and apply his physical skills just like everyone else. He's heavily applauded for his high basketball IQ and I don't see why that would disappear...

So showing some highlight .gif posutrizing a HoF Center devaluates his interior presence? Here's one of Hakeem getting dunked by a superb PG, but less superior player, Kevin Johnson. I guess it shows how little his affectiveness was defnesivley? No one said they were all invencible. But they all played at the same time, in their prime.

No I'm not arguing that LeBron wouldnt be able to excel in the Center dominated league back then. He's far too good. Same goes for Kobe.

But the ungodly numbers people compare to, are from two different eras. Jordan was 10 time scoring champion in his. And it was arguably the toughest era to play basketball in. LeBron is great, as is Kobe. But I feel people are comparing LeBron the physical specimen to Jordan. I also dont think its fair to all of a sudden catapult LBJ over Kobe, now that he's past his prime. Kobe was every bit the unstoppable force in his prime.

I have watched both of their careers. IMHO this is how it shakes out...

Lebron is the superior athlete.
Lebron and MJ possess entirely different skill sets and the 1v1 argument is moot. Lebron would destroy MJ in a 1v1 game because of his combination of size and speed.
Jordan is/was the FAR superior basketball player because of his nearly unmatched skills and a passion and desire unlike we've ever seen in any other athlete outside of Tiger Woods.

In the end you will not even be able to compare NBA Championships because LBJ will have 5 extra years in the league, in his prime. MJ spent 3 in college and 2 retired before coming back for more.
MJ's college resume ain't bad.

And I am old enough to remember that we thought we were watching the greatest ever in Bird/Johnson. MJ put that argument to rest as soon as he walked onto the floor.

And MJ never hand picked an all-star team to play on. Drafted by the lowly bulls, and he made them a dynasty.

I vote MJ.

For anyone old enough to have watched all of Jordan's career as an adult, there is no question. None. It's not even remotely close.

Right now. Jordan and I turn 33 on March 2nd. So I grew up watching him

I feel that when Lebron's career is over he will have the most records of any basketball player minus winning world titles. I feel like he's gonna end up winning 3 total

Lebron and Jordan's game are just totally different. They played different position. Who ever woulda won in a 1on1 doesn't matter. Hell, the Dream Team played "horse" and Jordan didn't win. There were like 5 of them that played

MJ was better at some things in his game. Lebron can also do things that MJ couldn't

Jordan is basically better at all aspects of basketball than Lebron other than rebounding which mattered little to their roles.

In a 1v1 it would be close. You have a complete player vs. a guy who can't hit a jumper.

Seriously, it's only close b/c people forget just how dominate MJ was. It took until he was with the Wizards before anybody actually thought anybody other than the Bulls were going to win.
Alois von Schweinsteiger
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Lebron is 6'8 250lbs
Jordan 6'6 215lbs

Both extremly athletic. Lebron can block shots better too. Lebron is much bigger and stronger.

Say what you will about his "jumper". He still gets his 30. Last week the 30+ points streak while shooting at 60% or higher was amazing

Did Jordan yell at you even though you didn't know him? Did he punch you for not being competitive enough? Did he give you a 30 minute rambling speech about how he's the best ever but some people in his HS were too dumb to see his greatness? Did he cheat on his wife while standing there?

Greatest basketball player ever. Top 10 worst humans ever, too

Bad humans are everywhere.

I think Michael could keep Lebron out of the paint and win that 1 v 1. Jordan can get a midrange jumper whenever he wants and drain it more often than not. Lebron gets most of his points in the paint.
